DS Lite Informer!
Not too bad but not too good either...
PostedApril 27, 2009
I have to say... the DSi is'nt that bad, but it is'nt that good either. I got it a couple days ago and messed around with it a bit... and I have to say... I'm not very impressed... theres not much to it besides the camera function, SD card function, and the DSi store, and probably the Internet, which you could also get on any other DS model (it is slower than the DSi though). I'll try to answer everybody's questions in my review... The DSi has a pretty good design... although I really like the DS Lite's glossy finish, the DSi is pretty smooth with a little rough feeling to it... the power button is placed inside the DSi in the lower left corner and the volume buttons are placed on the left hand side of the system on the side... you will have to push two buttons to adjust the volume. The head phones port is where it has always been... all the way at the bottom... and the SD card slot and stylus slot are located on the right hand side of the system. There are two inner and outter cameras on the DSi the inner one being where the Mic. used to be on the DS and DS Lite and the outter one being on the top of the DSi on the lower right side of the top of the system... the speakers and Mic. have changed a little bit and the power lights and stuff have also changed a bit as well. The camera... the reason that makes the DSi so popular... yeah.. I was'nt so impressed with it... my Iphone could do better but yeah whatever... You can add special effects to them and you can only have a total of 412 pictures in your album on the system... this means you'll either have to delete some... or store them a SD card or whatever. The camera is'nt all that great... it can't zoom in and out when you're trying to take a picture and pictures don't come out so good in dark places. It works pretty well and it's fun to mess around with when you're bored. The Internet... another big thing... the connection varies with the Wi-Fi signal... if the signal is high and good... your Internet will be fast... if your signal is low... it will be extremely slow... there are no downloadable flash players that I am aware of so you can't watch videos and go to Youtube and all that stuff on the DSi until Nintendo makes a downloadable flash player or something. Yet again, my Iphone could do better than the DSi's Internet but I guess it's OK for a gaming system. Here's what I don't really like about the DSi... it's functionality... not so great... Nintendo completely dropped the GBA slot so that sucks really bad for me because I am a die hard Pokemon fan... and without a GBA Slot I can't migrate... and for those of you who like playing Guitar Hero on the DS/DS Lite... let me warn you that you can't play it on the DSi... Hopefully Nintendo will change their minds and add a GBA Slot because that will make the DSi even more popular... and that means more money for them... FINALLY... IS THE DSi WORTH IT?! SHOULD I GET IT?! My answer is... I DON'T KNOW! If you think being able to take pictures, listen to music, and surfing the Internet is good for a DS system you should get it... I reccomend getting it if you don't need the GBA Slot or if you don't use an R4... because they don't work at all! Trust me guys, I've already tried all my stuff I used on my DS Lite. So yeah if you use an R4 (I think EDGE's don't work but I think Cyclo DS does) then I don't reccomend getting because it won't fit and it won't work! I'm not really sure about Action Replays. I don't use Action Replays but I'm planning on getting one but I'm not sure if it's compatible with the DSi. I'll have to check and research on that. So back to the topic... if you have the money, then upgrade... theres a promotion deal at GameStop right now when you trade in your GBA SP, DS, or DS Lite you'll get cash off when you get a new DSi and it ends 4/30/09... The DSi is pretty much all up to you. I think it's worth getting if you don't own a DS model yet but if you already have a DS Lite just stick with it because it's pretty

Don't fall for the hype
PostedApril 24, 2009
I am here to tell you what I think should be the truth about theis let-down of a game this system . As I said in my headline, don't buy this game for any reason especially the hype Nintendo has put in surronding this game. This game is a big bust and I'll tell you why. There is hardly any change from the DS lite to the DSi. The only change I can find is the 2 cameras. I didn't include the internet for two reasons: 1: it costs money unlike the play station portable. 2: and most of the time, the internet doesn't even work. The cameras are cool and there is some promise in that department but you can't put a picture as your background. The two biggest problems I have with the DSi are the lack of of games, performance while your traveling, and the graphics. I'll start with the games. Their are hardly any sports, action, or shooter games for the DSi and that is a big problem for me because I play all of those types of games I mentioned above. Almost all of the games for the DSi are puzzle and RPG's which can get boring after awhile. The quality of the action, sports, and shooter games they do have are poor also. The performance while your traveling is also a big issue to. Since almost all DSi games require you to use the stylus, it messes you up when you are on a bumpy road. Finally, the graphics are pretty bad on the Dsi especially compared to the PSP(play station portable). Basically, this thing is basically like the DS lite excluding the two cameras. All you die-hard Nintendo fans can disagree with me and I could care less. Overall, this system has some promise but for now, I would go and buy a PSP, but it wouldn't be horrible to buy this game system especially for younger kids.

WHAT AN UPGRADE!!!!! Best Handheld Ever
PostedApril 21, 2009
Just got my new dsi. Man, what an upgrade! It is smoother than the ds lite, brighter than the ds lite and just plain out better than the ds lite because it has 2 cameras with excellent quality and it has wi-fi so you can go on the Internet. Oh yeah, the Internet has a perfect picture of the website and with an sd card you can put music, photos, etc. And just like the wii, you can download games from the dsi store and the cool thing is they have some really cool games that are free. You can't say no to that and the price is great. So if you love nintendo and everything of it the dsi is right for you. Also if you sell your ds lite you get ** dollars off when you buy the dsi and you get ** dollars off when you sell your original ds and you get ** dollars when you sell your sp.

Keeping Nintendo Alive
PostedApril 21, 2009
Nintendo from what I've seen has been pretty down in the dumps lately. The Wii has NOT been their best home console, so many even die hard Nintendo fans have been looking to Microsoft or Sony for their home gaming needs. However, if you were to hand them a DSi I am in strong belief they would come running back. The Dsi really only has the word 'Amazing' to describe it. The new OS is very cool and an extremely good new look. The hardware itself is also gorgeous, with yet again redesigned buttons/placement and the new smaller speaker holes are cool too. We can't forget about the screen either. A very noticeable size difference and I don't think you could ask for more brightness. The DSi has five levels of brightness (One being the lowest and five being the highest) and comes set by default to the fourth option. Four is great, you might even want to tone it down some. Five is almost blinding, but if you need it it's there. The cameras were a great addition to this system as well. The fact that they put in one facing toward the player was also just a great idea. The pictures really aren't bad either, no horrid pixelation or anything like that. The effects for the camera are also very fun and add more personality to your photo library. The DSi sound function is also net and can be very entertaining. You can record up to ten seconds of sound then speed it up, slow it down, play it in reverse, put it on helium or most anything you could really want to do with a sound. Then of course there's DSiWare so that even if you don't have a game you can still have fun with little arcade-like games like Mr.Driller or other applications you can add to your DSi such as a calculator or a frame-by-frame animation program. The battery is pretty great too. Doesn't take too terribly long to charge and lasts quite a while. You won't see that at first as DSi (Or at least mine) does not come fully charged. After running it down and charging it the first time however you'll probly be amazed. So this is definitely the best portable system pure fun-wise I have ever layed eyes on. It's worth the money and if you're in a slump could definitely get you back into gaming, especially portable. Buy one. Do it now XD
