Matt Becker
A Great System Upgrade
PostedApril 13, 2009
I have owned a GBC, GBA, PSP, original DS, and a DS lite so, when I say that the DSi is the best portable system I've ever purchased, I know what I'm talking about. The matte finish is what you'll notice when you first pick up the system; it feels really nice and doesn't get smudge marks like the DS lite did. Unfortunately, it doesn't look as cool as the DS lite (where's the slick duel box logo?). The shoulder buttons are a little more elevated than they were for the DS lite, which I think makes them feel better. The two volume buttons on the side of the system double as mid-game light adjusters which I really like since one light setting isn't always good for the different environments I go through on a day-to-day basis. Once you open up the system, the two large screens are there to welcome you. I know a quarter of an inch doesn't sound like much for a screen upgrade but, when the screens were only 3 inches to begin with, it's amazing what a difference it can make. What you might not notice are the two small holes for the system's audio. Despite their small size, these things pack a punch and, from what I've heard first hand so far, they completely obliterate the speakers on original and lite. The buttons all feel really good, especially the D-Pad. Nintendo obviously heard some gamers complain about the elevation of the lite's D-Pad and took the criticism to heart. The power button, located near the bottom, left-hand corner of the lower screen, requires a firm press in order to be activated, which you'll appreciate when you lightly bump it in mid-game to no effect. It also doubles as the system's "Home" button, which brings me to the OS. When you boot up the DSi, you won't notice much different at the intro screen except the little "i" beside the Nintendo DS logo and an extra chime that accompanies the traditional boot up tune. It's only after you touch the screen and get to the core of the OS that you'll notice just how much has changed from the DS lite to the DSi. Much like how the Wii has it's "Channel Pages", the DSi now has its own "Channel Strip". Initially, these channels are as follows: Settings, Game Card, Camera, Sound, Shop, Download Play, and PictoChat. I won't go into detail on all of these channels (I'm sure you can find out all about them somewhere else on the web), let's just say that the names should give you a good idea about what they do. Part of the fun about the DSi is that, by using the Shop Channel, you can purchase and download appropriately priced games directly to your system. Nintendo is even giving buyers 1000 Nintendo Points (equivalent to $10) for free when they purchase the DSi. I personally recommend AQUIA; it's a fun and addicting puzzle game that, while not revolutionary by any stretch of the imagination, has provided me with many hours of fun already. They also have some free DSiWare (that's it's official name) like the Browser app. That's the only one that is available right now but, in the coming months, I expect to see some really good things appear on the whole DSi Shop Channel. I guess there isn't a whole lot more to say; the cameras aren't really good quality but I'm hoping that developers will be able to take advantage of them for some really cool game ideas. Editing photos is a lot of fun but, as I said before, the images aren't all that great. I also enjoy listening to music on my DSi but it's a pain to convert all my MP3s into AACs (come on, Nintendo! fix this in a firmware update!). Overall, this is an excellent system and is one that I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone in search of a good mobile game system.

best handheld system ever
PostedApril 13, 2009
When i heard of this item i thought it was going to be another waste of money for me. i got this when it came out just for the hell of it. i actually like it better than the ds lite it has brighter screen, bigger screen, camera, sd card slot, and u can record sound. it has a lot of features that the wii has like the gamestore, internet, and much i love this system. i would highly recommend this system. I remember when i opened the item the menu was totally different and i immediately started updating the system. the thing i like more about the DSi is the internet feature cause i pay all my bills online. the only thing bad about this item is that the internet is too slow. it takes too long to load the pages but it kicks the crap out of the psp.

i had doubts about the DSi then i got it for my B-day and loved it the only thing is all it really is is a ds lite with a camera and sound rec./music player and downloadable games and i really think they could of done more with it i wish it could play mp3 files and not ACC files cause not many people know how to use ACC files the resolution of the camera is what you get from a cell phone i do like how the screens are bigger and the fun wacky things you can do with the camera. and i hope nintendo and other 3rdparty comp.[s] will make good new DSi games cause the only thing i see now is pokemon P. and GTA-chinatown-wars which is kinda sad but still this is a really fun system and if your not sure see if a friend has one and ask them about and see for your self.

Best Gaming System You Could Ever Imagine!
PostedApril 11, 2009
I got this system the first day it came out,and it was the best thing ever!!! It has 2 cameras' that can take cool photos and you can just play around with the pics.It has a built in sound recorder so you can record your voices and you can edit them in many ways! You can make it high pitched, you can make it sound like you said it in a tunnel, and much more! Just as always, they have pictochat, but with a little update. You can now draw in rainbow color. And now, they have a shop on here, just like the wii shop channel on the wii! you can download small parts of video games from a few games. Cross your fingers because maybe they might have a virtual console part of the shop. And you can download the DSi web browser from the DSi shop. you can be able to go onto many of your favorite websites. If you don't have it yet,you should seriously get one,its AWESOME!!!
