Taking full advantage of Kinect for Xbox 360, Steel Battalion Heavy Armor is an Xbox 360 exclusive first person action game that promises to deliver a uniquely immersive experience and an evolution in warfare gaming.Set in 2082, Steel Battalion Heavy Armor depicts a world devoid of semiconductors, where war is waged with rudimentary weapons as new superpowers struggle for dominance. In a twist of fate, the U.S. army has been forced to begin major landing operations on what was once its own soil. In this low-tech era, there is one weapon class that will determine the course of the war - the Vertical Tank (VT). Playing as pilot Lt. Powers, players control one such VT as he embarks on a mission that will see the action shift from North America to battlefields and war-torn streets across the globe.Steel Battalion Heavy Armor delivers an unprecedented level of control and interaction. VT movement, aiming and firing of the main guns are undertaken using the Xbox 360 controller. A wide variety of other combat-crucial actions are done through Kinect for Xbox 360 with upper body gestures - from starting the engine, to operating the scope or manning the turret-mounted machine gun. Kinect for Xbox 360 also provides a means of interacting with your fellow crew members, from ensuring a panicked crew member stays focused, to a high five for successfully completing a mission.Steel Battalion Heavy Armor introduces a brand new four player online co-op mode via Xbox LIVE®. Work together with your friends on a variety of maps to destroy a set amount of enemies and unlock new items to customize your VT with. In addition to this, you can unlock Achievements by playing Score Attack mode where you and your friends will be rated based on performance.

Has its faults but good game should be a arcade
For the first game of its kind i think it stretches the limits for what the kinect can do for the hardcore gamer. And sure your seeing the world through a square hole of a vertical tank does kind of limit the atmosphere but thats what the game was trying to do in the first place.I find the intensity when your tank gets blasted, your character gets pushed back and your forced to physically move your arms forward to reattach your self to the sight console as an experience that has never been attempted or successfully created. Like most kinect games this one takes practice, you cant expect yourself to run into dance central 2 and expect to button mash your way to 5 stars. So many hard core gamers have been accustomed to handling new games completely controller based with ease. but the fact is motion gaming is a new field and it will take much longer than the possible 1 week it took this guy to give this review. Try the demo get a kitchen stool or chair sit in front of your kinect run through the tutorial and then tell me you've never played a game like this before in your life.

Seriously no other previews as I'm writing this? This is the first KINECT game for core gamers like myself. If you don't own a kinect and know someone borrow theirs just to try this demo out its on xbox live. Its a lot of fun and doesn't require all kinds of dumb body movement like the kiddy games. A perfect integration of kinect and the controller. Give it a chance before passing it off as more typical kinect trash. You'll be surprised.

Looks good but...
Out of all the games that need a multiplayer deathmatch, this is one. I have been waiting for a kick butt mech game that has deathmatch. I was really looking forward to this game, even preordered it, and come to find out, there is just co-op on it. Still might be fun, but am dissapointed there is no deathmatch or team deathmatch. Mech Assult, where are you?

could have been better
It would be nice if they stuck with one controller instead of switching between the kinet and the normal controller. It gets annoying.

finally a great game for kinect , played the demo and man this was actually the first kinect game that utilized the tool how it should, had no real problems with the commands and actually had a fun time played the original steel batallion and it just brought back memories, that game was ahead of its time. and so is this one.

My first initial thoughts were this is easy but no, its a very difficult to get used to (simple) pay attention the games instructions and don't rush through too much of the info you need to know how to play, I hope people in the future know this because this is not likely to be seen by everyone.
just played the demo, if you think kinect is good for a game you are wrong, i will tell you my opinion ; kinect is not that great of a thing, it really sucks, and playing the demo will tell you, the buttons in your little VT are so close together that when you go to puss one of them you, you puss a different button, exp. it showed me the detonate self button, and the kinect thought i was trying to use it, BOTTOM LINE; needs less kinect and more controller or its not worth the $60, RENT OR BORROW FIRST DON'T RUN OUT AND BUY!!!

The original SB didn't have coop or online capability either. SB Line of Contact was only online, so it wasn't as big a draw either. I don't know why they just don't merge the two ideas together and be done with it. I loved the games, but no deathmatch on the current gen consoles may doom this game before it releases. I played the demo and was rather impressed with the intergration of the kinect. You will need a lot of space and you must be precise with your movements to enjoy it. This game is definitely not for the casual gamer as it will test you at every turn just like its predecessors. I hope they do add a deathmatch mode via game update because without it, SB will not get the recognition it deserves.

Horrible game. The switch you need to use is right next to the self-destruct button, and Kinect doesn't pick up exactly where you're trying to put your hand, and causing you to do things you don't mean to do. Don't buy it.
Many people complained about how the KINECT sucks but this game is overall the best KINECT game ever. Before you get on your car and go, first try the demo if you have a KINECT. If you like it, Go for it, buy it! If you don't your KINECT may need calibrations or its just your opinion. Overall, very addictive and good for.......moving?
