Technological data on the nuclear-armed walking tank, Metal Gear, leaks onto the black market. The legendary hero, Solid Snake, sets out in pursuit of a tanker carrying a new Metal Gear prototype. But Snake falls into a trap and is believed lost along with the tanker at the bottom of the Hudson River. Two years later, terrorists led by a man claiming to be Solid Snake seize control of the Big Shell, an oil spill cleanup facility. Responding to the crisis, the government sends Raiden, a new recruit within the special ops unit FOXHOUND, to infiltrate the Big Shell and rescue the US President as world peace hangs in the balance.

One of the Greatest Stealth Games Ever Made
Location: Statesboro, GA
This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers
This is one of the greatest games of all time. I know that's a little blunt to start off a review with, but it's true. When you first start the game, you realize you are playing as Snake. Not Solid Snake, but Snake. You are playing as Big Boss in his prime during the Cold War. This game improved the MGS series in a lot of ways. It made you pay more attention to the game and your surroundings. In the past MGS games, you had a radar that told you where the enemies were and their line of sight. In this game, you have a radar, but the game is set during the 1960's, so it doesnt tell you most of the information the old radar did. It was a small change, but it affected the gameplay in a big way. Next is the survival aspect of the game. If you start to get hungry, you will starve to death. You have to go hunt things in between missions. That is where the subtitle "Snake Eater" comes in. Not only does it refer to the main character in the game, but it refers to the fact that you have to eat snakes. Amidst all of the awesomeness in the game is the final boss fight, the last subject I will touch in this review. The final boss is one of the greatest sniper standoffs in video game history. You can tackle it any way you want. You could even save the game and wait for your opponent to die of old age. So, the bottom line: This is an amazing game and definitely worth the $15 you would pay for the Vita version. Don't pass it up.
