This, the third in Battlefield 3's conveyor belt of downloadable content, finds DICE showboating in style. If the developer were a rock star, it'd have its foot on the monitor right now, as the audience held their lighters aloft. Back to Karkand's updated fan favourite maps was the obligatory run through the classic hits from yesteryear while Close Quarters, with its blatant COD tempo, was a punchy, punky cover version thrown into the mix to shake things up. To stretch the stadium rock metaphor to breaking point, Armored Kill is the epic ten-minute blow out, all guitar and drum solos, a ballad of fire and smoke. This is Battlefield at its biggest. Quite literally, as one of the four new maps - the sprawling Bandar Desert - takes the crown as the largest Battlefield map ever. Over twice the size of Caspian Border, it occupies five square kilometres of digital real estate, taking in a crescent bay front with residential buildings and construction sites dotted around its circumference. Further inland there's an artillery base for the taking, surrounded by an expanse of open desert and rolling dunes and with a highway slicing through the centre. It's all hemmed in with rocky outcrops and cliffs that direct the action down and into this vast crucible of mayhem. The NEW Game Mode Tank Superiority feels like a regular match except with more space and a lot of tanks. The mode is fun though with all action with tanks in battle along with a couple of LAVs. I would recommend this game to anybody wanting more vehicle warfare!

I think that most of us can agree that Close Quarters was very disappointing. I personally only liked the new weapons from Close Quarters. But Armored Kill breaks away from the CoD like gameplay and dives head first into major vehicle-on-vehicle gameplay with HUGE maps!
The large map size is pleasing, but on console, 24 players isn't enough. Unless you're flying a jet, heli, or driving a vehicle you're not gonna get many kills or points. Not to mention you're not gonna be much help to your team.
Speaking of vehicles, Armored Kill brings many new types into the battlefield. Such as Tank Destroyers, Mobile Artilleries, AC-130's, and my favorite, the quad bike. The Tank Destroyers are simply LAV's with tank cannons. The Mobile Artilleries are hard to use, but after some practice they can really rack up kills. The AC-130 is great, but becomes candy for jets. It's shot down to quickly to actually use it. I almost forgot, the quad bikes. The quad bikes are well..... quad bikes.
I'm really surprised with how smooth the maps run also. Almost 0 lag for me. But sometimes textures take a while to load or completely glitch out.
The maps are like I said, huge. Each map has 5 flags. The first map is Alborz Mountain. A huge snow map with great vehicle and infantry gameplay. There are 5 flags, 2 at the base of the mountain, and 3 at the top. Next is Armored Shield. A wind farm like map that has OUTSTANDING ground vehicle AND air vehicle gameplay! Armored Shield is my favorite. Then we have Death Valley. A night map that features great ground vehicle vs. vehicle gameplay, although I feel this map isn't very good for air vehicles. With DICE's unnecessary blue filter, this map looks more like a blue map than a night map, Death Valley is my least favorite map. Last we have Bandar Desert, the biggest map in Battlefield history! This map has amazing air vehicle gameplay, with the some decent ground vehicle gameplay also. IMO, this map feels kinda small for being the biggest map to ever exist in Battlefield, but that's just me. All maps in Armored Kill are great!
So that wraps up my Armored Kill review and I must say, if you own Battlefield 3, buy Armored Kill! It's worth every penny! But don't expect it to be easy, these maps are tough!
