Yes it's slimmer....Yes it's a PS3...It feels like it's made out of newspaper though. I'm tempted to drop it to see how strong it is but I payed almost 300 dollars for it. It functions like all the rest with the XMB bar and all the gadgets minus the disc slider. It has a door on top and it's kind of gay trying to get a game out of it...not that I have a problem but If your going to take the sliding disc player out why not drop 80 bucks off the retail. I like to also keep my PS3 clean and they added grooves on the top that makes it harder to dust plus dust gets inside it and now we have to clean the lens...why fix something not broken. I recommend the PS3 Slim. Cheaper used with more Gigs. Uncharted 3 is amazing!

At first I was a little hesitant with my purchase of this new supposed "Super Slim" console; it was lightweight, the disk tray was in a location I hadn't seen since the PS1, and it looked like a piece of retro technology. The first thing I noticed was the initial make and quality of the SuperSlim. It felt cheap in hand, and a closer look at some of the insides of the hardware do reveal this to be true. The majority of the console on the inside is composed of plastic, whereas in the older PS3's, there'd be metal that felt higher in quality; however, something doesn't need to "feel" of high quality to actually be considered quality. Needless to say, this console performs as a piece of Sony hardware should and exceeded my expectations. One of the first things I had noticed about the console from the moment I turned it on was how quiet it was. Seriously, this thing is a true ninja. From time to time I'll leave the console on without knowing it, but that doesn't get me worried about anything, let alone my electricity bill, this bad boy uses less power than either of the two older versions of the consoles and delivers the same amount of power in a smaller and more compact size. Along with using less power, this console has less heat to deal with and has great circulation. I can leave it on for hours upon hours of continuous game play and it won't overheat. At least it hasn't over heated on me just yet, even after two straight days of leaving Skyrim on. The last thing I'll address is the top loading disk tray. Reminiscent of the older first gen PS1, you physically press a button and the tray slides to the left, revealing the works of high powered blue ray lasers. The pro to this is that you don't need to worry about your disks getting stuck inside of your console anymore due to the fact that you can also manually open the tray instead of pressing the button. The only thing that worries me about this design is that it's spring loaded and may wear out over extended use. But by that time, we'll all be playing the PS4. All in all, I'd totally recommend this console if you're getting into the PS3 for the first time. If you already own a PS3 and are looking to buy this one, I'd recommend buying a larger hard drive over a new console, your wallet will be less impacted and the older PS3 hardware performs at the same level as the Superslim, giving no benefit to you for owning a newer version.

I was shopping for a new game system and I saw the add on this website I was skeptical about the new system. I read all the reviews from multiple sites and compared the data. I used to own an xbox 360 and I hated how bulky the size is and how much heat the system generated, but with the PS3 Super slim, it is so quiet, and does not produce much heat at all. As long as you take care of you're system and treat is right this system will last you for a long time, I am very glad I decided to get this system.

the ps3 is beast! Its cheap, and it works great. but uncharted 3 blows...its super boring......it makes no sense, plus the guns are old, and a lot dont have the right name
