Did you buy this product for yourself or someone else? For me
For those that are interested in purchasing this particular Astro headset, they are in fact the 2013 edition of the A30s. It comes with an updated 7.1 Mixamp, as well as the updated drivers in the headset. That being said, this headset is by far the best I've ever own. After extensive research, I decided to finally invest in the A30 after a 6 month search. The sound quality is comparable to a high-end Skullcandy headset (makes sense due to Skullcandy buying out astro). But the sound is very well rounded for a headset of this size. When it's plugged into my computer iPod or iPhone, listening to music was a joy. The bass isn't too overpowering, the mids were very present and the highs were crystal clear. By comparison, the A30s are a more concentrated form of the A40s. I went with the 30s simply because of the smaller footprint, so when I take them outside of my house it doesn't look like a "gaming headset" to the untrained eye. The only minor complaint that I have with the product is the build. Particularly with the headband part of the headset. While the plastic used around the earcups are solid glossy plastic, the headband is matte and feels hollow. The adjustable section of the band is more loose that I would have liked, but as long as you're conscious and careful this shouldn't be a problem. If you are looking for a headset that does it all... (360, PS3, PC, iPod, iPhone, iPad, etc.) For $200, you're getting a lot of value in this package.
