This game is perfect for: kid gamers
i'm a big fan of the Aliens and Marines and all i gotta say is that this game , i'm very dissappointed in it. the creators should've takin longer to make it better. i mean everything on it needed more work on it. AVP is better than this game. the game is sellin for 39.99 well should be more like 10.00 or less thats all that game is about worth.

This game is perfect for: casual gamers
I thought this would be like Aliens vs. Predator, which was a pretty good game, but it failed to even measure up to it. The aliens theme seems a little tired, so you have to cut this version some slack. The graphics were okay, but the characters didn't seem that believable, and the sound effects were somewhat substandard. The most frustrating part was when the game glitched and wouldn't let me do a basic command to move forward in the plot. The same error continued to pop up, even after restarting the last checkpoint a couple times. Needless to say, I never got to finish the game.
I wish that the game creators had made an alien character to play. That would have made up for some of this game's issues. My advice is save your money for a better Aliens game in the future, or get Aliens vs Predator.

ok this game is getting a lot of hate and I understand its a disappointment, over all the game isn't bad as its being made out to be, yes it was waaay delayed and it was over hyped but what game isn't over hyped, I found it to be very challenging and desent shooter, its not perfect but its not horrible, im enjoying it, wish multiplayer was better though

Aliens is 1 of my favorite movies. then Gearbox and Sega had to screw it up. The graphics could power a calculator. The guns suck and the upgrades do not help. The sound in this game is great the aliens sound like they did in the movies, they totally nailed the pulse rifle. Oh yeah this game has the WORST ENDING EVER!!!!!!!!. If you are a really really big fan of aliens i'm sorry to say but this game is really bad!!!!!

This game is awful. Let me start with the story. The characters aren't likable and you never learn anything about them. Once you finish the game you won't be able to describe any of the characters. The ending is so terrible it makes me mad just to think about it. i wouldn't even consider it an ending. The graphics are even worse. I would literally walk in to a room and stare at the floor for a minute waiting for it to texturize. The graphics themselves look like an early PS2 game. The combat also sucks. The guns felt like be be guns and whenever I shot something I felt like I was shooting air. You can't shoot dead bodies or face huggers off of people like in AvP 3. The only emotion I felt while playing was disappointment and anger. There was never a part that made me scared. You barely even feel like you're fighting aliens and you fight Wey-yu mercenaries for like three fourths of the game. The xenomorphs are brain dead and don't go on the walls or ceiling at all! They just walk right up to you. I hate this game and Gearbox Software. They made so many promises and said how awesome the game would be. I think that if any other studio made this game besides gearbox it would have been good. This game is an insult to the movie. This is easily the worst game I have ever played.

OK, first from some reviews I saw on the internet I thought the game was bad and had bad graphics, but thanks god I never listen to reviews, the game is actually good, graphics are not bad at all, the history mode its good and its like a sequel from aliens 2, I wasnt expecting a lot from this game actually but it was better than I thought , I recommend this game to all aliens fans who arent sure to get it, For people who say this game is bad, Its probably because they play to much call of duty or games with to many stuff on it , but the game has everything it needs to be a good alien game , sentry guns aliens ,queens, even new alien species, smart guns, space and land enviroments, I havnt see any glitches so far unless Im actually trying to get glitched, U actually feel like your controlling a Colonial marine. Oh and I played it on PC

Aliens: Colonial Marines is tagged as the cannon sequel to Aliens, and is even recognized by 20th Century Fox. This was supposed to be the big seller for the game, but turned out to be a disappointment. The story starts off slow and never pick up. the small scale of the story is disappointing and for half the you don't even care why you are doing what you are told. They also bring back a character who was believed to b dead and then never explained why he was back or how he survived. The story takes place in famous places one would recognize from the movies, like Hadley's Hope, the Sulaco, and the Derelict alien ship. But these environments are not done justice, the game fails to bring the atmosphere of the movies to the game. The game is not a looker and can easily be seen in the lighting, effects, and textures.
The gameplay doesn't make up for the lacking story. The guns feel under powered and the game does support and upgrade system, but it doesn't do much. One can carry two guns as an active loadout. what I mean by this is that you can switch between two guns by pressing Triangle or Y, but if to hold Triangle or Y you can pick between about eight other guns (not including the legendary guns you can find) to switch in and out of your primary and secondary slots. This leaves the player never worrying about ammo because you always have another gun to switch to. In fact if every weapon in you whole loadout is empty you can always press Right on the D- pad to take out you pistol (which ha unlimited ammo).
The health system is another deterrent to the game. it involves and armor bar and a health bar separated into three separate sections that recharge if only partial damaged. The set up of the system isn't its downfall, but reading damage is where it fails. The game does such a bad job and letting you know your dying. One second I have full health the next I am almost dead and I didn't even realize I was being shot or attacked.
This brings me to the enemies, in this game you will come into contact with Xenomorphs, and Weland-Yutani soldiers. The xenomorphs come in a couple forms. But overall they are the same. One might have more health, or be faster, or larger, or spit acid at you, but ultimately the are xenomorphs. The xenomorphs will also become delimbed by shooting them and a lot of the time explode, making the whole experience not authentic.The Weland-Yutani soldiers on the other hand are a pain. They are not fun to fight and drain you health very quickly if not careful. As a whole the AI is not good, xenomorphs will get stuck in walls and the soldiers will sometimes not even know your standing next to them.
For fans of the Alien Series stay far far away from this game. It does the movies a disservice. I did have a few moments of jot throughout the game but not much.

This could definately have been better, but I liked the story. I thought it was a very original take on the movies. Had a few jump out of your seat moments but not as many as it should have!! Sound and music were very good but the graphics were definately out of date and the AI was kinda dumb. The end sucked.

Was expecting way more from this title and all the hype. What we have is an average at best FPS with a woefully short campaign and an epic bad ending. I thought it was going to be an Alien battle but spent half my time killing other marines. Anyway, I see it as an oppuritunity lost.
