Still using IR!?!
PostedSeptember 19, 2014
When I purchased this, no one could tell me if this was IR or Bluetooth, nor did the packaging say. But I figured since it was a next gen console than surely Microsoft wouldn't have used IR again. I was wrong! My favorite console for media, whether it be bluray, dvd, music or apps such as Netflix is the PS3. The media remote for the PS3 is Bluetooth and doesn't require line of sight to function. I have an entertainment center with all my consoles..Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4. They are all hidden behind cabinet doors, even if I opened them the media remotes for the 360 and One would not have a line of sight to be able to function. Why would Microsoft choose to use IR for their newest console?! At least design one that worked off the same 2.4Ghz as the controllers, which would allow the use of the media remote without line of sight. Alas, I was asking to much. The design of the media remote for the Xbox One is good, and if line of sight isn't an issue I'd recommend this media remote...but if you're like meand don't like your entertainment center or TV stand cluttered with your consoles you may need to find another option, if one comes about in the future. One can hope

Good, could be better.

It is only about $25, with that being said it should have several more function buttons like a TV power button and a button to change the INPUT channel. It's not bad...but not great...I consider just using my phone since that battery that it uses is rechargeable...and for that I would not recommend to a friend.

Small,needs direct route

Control a bit to small. Does not work through the kinect so you will need to almost point it directly at the Xbox for it to work. Nice try Microsoft...

Great device
PostedMay 15, 2014
This little media control device is really useful! I love how it connects o my television and how I'm able to adjust the volume without having to use the control from the actual tv itself. The case feels really luxurious and when you walk up to it or touch it, it lights up from the motion and the lights turn down when your away, saving power. Its a great device and I highly recommend it to people who use their Xbox one for anything other than gaming.
