Frustrating play awaits you as you step into World War 2
PostedMay 22, 2010
The good: It was at a low price point, so I didn't waste that much money The bad: for some reason there's no online mode on this version; there isn't even a split screen multiplayer mode to make up for the online mode; directions in the single player campaign aren't given out accurately; some of the Wii waggle motions in the story mode are unforgiving and ridiculous I'm going to try not to be too harsh, but I was brutally disappointed by the Wii console's offering of what was revered to be one of the best first person shooters in video game history. And as a member of a franchise with that foundation, this particular version of Call of Duty 3 just falls short at best. The controls were responsive, though. It was easy to see your cursor, and move it around and the camera angle seemed to cooperate as well. The graphics were also good, there were some flair with the smoke bomb explosions as well as the war fields. Even better was the sound, which sounded as similar as a video game could portray a real life war. But too bad these good points just come back and haunt because they can't be fully taken advantage of because of the glaring flaws. A vital component with Call of Duty games, or any first person shooter to this day and age, is online multiplayer. For reasons unknown, this version has been deprived of that vital feature. It's hard to excuse knowing that not just the PS3 and XBOX 360, and even the remaining console versions from the past generation like PS2 and XBOX, all have some form of online play offered for those versions. Though it does make sense because the Gamecube was offered very few online games in its library and Nintendo just started the online component with the Wii console. But even if you consider that, then shouldn't there at least be a split screen multiplayer mode to add some lasting value to this somewhat incomplete package? The fact of the matter is the game could have had so much more to offer, and it seems unfair especially for those who don't have any of the other platforms it is released on. Also, with the only mode offered as the single player campaign mode, even that still falls well below greatness. Sometimes its difficult to figure out what you're supposed to do because directions aren't given to you accurately, just a small image of a Wii remote at the bottom of the screen. Even worse, there are points in the game that require rapid Wii remote action, like the dreadful waggling. Like at the first mission when your character is jumped, to survive you must thrust the remote and nun-chuck perpendicularly in a fast motion which is extremely hard to pull off. Especially since the game doesn't recognize your commands and you lose the challenge. It's difficult to think of Call of Duty 3 on the Wii platform to satisfy anyone who has experienced the game on another console, with its lack of split screen multiplayer let alone the online mode, and the frustrating campaign mode doesn't make up for it by any chance either. Wii owners deserve better than this. Save your money for World at War or Modern Warfare Reflex Edition.

Get it!
PostedApril 25, 2010
The first time i bought it, i was disappointed, but i ended up liking the game! This game will not be interesting if you are into different guns and things like that, because the story takes place in the 40's or something, so they will definitely have old guns! One of the things you will hate about it is, it will be a little hard to pass the training, if you are not familiar with call of duty games! The other reason to like the game is, you almost don't need to do any work, because your crew can do everything and you will just follow, but that doesn't always apply! Don't be fooled by the price, because it is a great game, the setting is the only thing that made it, cheap, but the graphic and all that is beyond amazing, and it comes with a manual and everything!

Taking the Fight to the Wii
PostedApril 4, 2010
Call of Duty 3 is an amazing game. The graphics are better than I thought, the Wii-mote controls are mostly effective except reloading with the - button. (It might just be my wii-mote!) The story is corny at times but flows well with each mission. The aiming is very responsive and the sound is clear and heart-pounding. The only weak point is the challenge. I fight on normal difficulty and I blew through the first nine levels in about a day. The game won't be boring once the fourteen missions are completed. I will definetly be replaying them again and again. You fight as four people. An American, Polish, Scottish, and Canadian. The game focuses more on Americans but luckily it isn't 100% like Big Red One which got boring seeing the same men throughout the game. Anyway, this game is a must buy for the $** sale. Original price is too high. I rate this game a 9/10 because this is a war worth fighting...while the sale is still going on.
