MASTER PIECE!!!!!
PostedDecember 6, 2011
a master piece is a bit of a insult to this game. Dark cloud 2 is the best game i have ever played and ive played all the zeldas all the star oceans all the kingdom hearts all the dragon quests all the devil may cry games all the final fantasy games (Final fantasy VII is probly a very close tie) all the white knight chronicle games demon soul most of the elder scrolls sryrim is BEAST!!!! but this game just has somthing special that just makes it really fun and addicting i played over 300 hours of gameplay of this game sure some parts of it are cheesy but thats one of the reasons i love it i love that you level up your weapon and building them up is really really fun the battle system is really simple but creative its not to hard if you buy this game i will garante after the 1st 5 hours you play you will be addicted.

High Replay Value. Tons of fun.
PostedJuly 1, 2011
I picked this game up before me and my family went on a trip to see the rest of the family. I hate family visits so this game saved me. But little did i know that i would still be playing this game today. I have probably played this game over 15 times, all the way through since i have bought it. The story is amazing, the graphics were really good for it's time, and the game play was tons of fun (maybe a little repetitive in fighting but the weapon customization has you wanting to test out your new weapons in dungeons anyway) The music is nice and sets the mood of the story very well. The crafting system of the game is really fun, take pictures, gather score, get good items that are very useful. Fishing and spheda are very fun also, when you just feel like relaxing and not really killing anything. This is by far my most cherished game of all time, i can see myself playing it again and again until my playstation breaks and i can't find another working one.

The Best Game Ever.
PostedApril 8, 2011
Dark Cloud 2 took many different elements from many different games, put them in an atom smasher and wound up with a God game.
==Storyline==
You're a young teenager named Max who is tired of his dull life behind a city wall, and when he discovers the secret to a red stone his father gave him, he sets off on a marvelous adventure. Though the story at many points is childish, it helps keep a lightness to the game, but many parts are tragic and down right sad. Its strikes a very nice balance between mature and childish elements. Though the dialogue could have used some work.
==Gameplay==
The gameplay was very fun though sometimes repetitive. Despite another reviewers post, you actually have 3 different attack combos, not just two attacks. And that just for your short ranged weapons. Both playable characters also have a long ranged weapon, which is very nice as well. This equals out to about 14 different attacks with each character. Which isn't bad at all. There are tons of different weapons in the game, all of which can be customized and built up into better, stronger weapons. You can use a robotic suit with customizable weapons, armor, wheels, feet, ect. You also later have the ability to transform into multiple different monsters that you fight in the game. The dungeons are well designed, randomly generated and fairly short to extremely large. Not to mention a ton of bosses and mini bosses which are a joy to fight. There is also a really well designed fishing system in the game, which can keep you side tracked for hours, along with fishing contests and fishing races which are unlocked as you progress through the game. There is also a game called spheda, which is DC2's take on golf. While there is definitely a learning curb, once you get the hang of it, it is very enjoyable. There is also an invention system which has also been very well designed. You take pictures with a camera, put 3 together to make an idea, then get resources to build it. You can get rare and powerful items by doing this and its a really nice way to break off from the main story.
==Graphics==
The graphics are quite marvelous for this game being made in 2003. While multiple companies were using cel-shaded graphics back then, Level-5 was one of the few who actually got it right. A nice blend between realism and cel-shading plus just a touch of anime style cartooning make them just wonderful
==Sound==
While the dialogue can be a bit silly at times, for the most part, the sound is lovely. The music for Dark Cloud 2 is some of the best videogame music I have ever heard. Period. Background sounds and ambient sounds are very nicely done as well.
==Replay Value==
I've played through this game probably at least 6 times and I'm about ready to go through it again. Plus, you can rack up to as many as 80 hours in a single play through. I've never seen such great replay value on any game I've played.
==Overall==
This has been my favorite game ever since I first played it in 2003. For only 20 dollars it is a steal compared to 60 dollar pieces of garbage some companies are shoveling out nowadays. Its rare to find in stores but if you do see it, it would be an absolute tragedy not to buy it.
