When I first heard my little brother say: "I want War of the Monsters" the first thought in my mind was "Good God, another bad fighting game!" I smacked myself when I played it for only ten seconds, let me be a little more straight forward about this: THE GAME IS EPIC FOR ALL GAMERS! The basic story is that the world is/was being invaded by aliens, so I speculate this game to be within a time span of the fifties, to the ninties. What the government had in mind was to create shield weapons that would shoot down the saucers so earthlings could live their lives and be peaceful... oh how grand of a plan it was, UNTIL THE SAUCERS HIT EARTH! The toxic crud that oozed from the downed ships created monsters that endlessly fought, causing mass hysteria. Robots, over-grown gorillas, and lava giants, this game has all kinds of monsters! There is no story plot unless you want to play with each monster in the same story for everyone, but if you ask me, that's not a flaw, it's win. Ten monsters if my memory serves me correctly (my brother won't tell me where he hid the game, he's a crafty one). There are costumes for each character, so you can go from dragon raptor, half-dead dragon, to skeleton dragon. The sound, not the best i've ever heard, but it's alright for a game where you beat the crud out of your opponents. The gameplay has to be my favorite element, you have a set number of movesets to use per button mash, but it's so addicting to use each one over and over again! Special attacks are the clincher, you can choose from close, or long range, which can greatly improve your odds of winning. All in all, if your a die hard gamer only looking to play games that give you one good run through so you can spend that money on something else after you return it, stop reading right now and leave this page, because clearly this game is not for you. But if you like replayability, and head smashing action with minigames, multiplayer, and monsters of all sorts, War of the Monsters is your game, and I encourage a buy... STRONGLY encourage a buy!
This is soooooo fun. I love playing this game. Me, my brother, cousin, and friends play this all the time. Its a very fun classic game!!! Super fun. In arcade mode. But in career, its hard! Arcade mode is way more fun than career mode.

This game is a great game. This was the very first game I bought for the PS2, and I still play it. I admit the story (if you count it as one) is laughable at times, and the graphics are choppy and bland. But anyone will enjoy this game. The gameplay is just amazing and the monsters are all very different. Each one has 2 special attacks and has different stats like speed and power. Some monsters can even fly. This game gets my recomendation any day.
This game is one of the first games I had ever played for playstation2 with my best friend and I loved it. This game has a reasonable story even though it could never happen. But awesome game defiantly should get it it's sooo fun you could play it for days straight and not get bored. Multiplayer is really fun and you don't absolutely have to fight each other if you don't want to, so I really liked that. GET THIS GAME.
