Pretty good for a 2004 game.

Mafia takes place in New York in the 1930's and 1940's. The game is great, if you are into games that are in the 1900's this game is awesome for you. If you get it and dont like it that is your fault. Spending most of your day on this game is a good amount of time.

Want To Be A Mobster ? Join the MAFIA
PostedApril 26, 2011
Mafia is introduced as a GTA like game, just in the early 1930s-1940s. The missions seem like ones that would be in a GTA game. The characters are neat, and the story is great.
In Mafia, you play as Thomas Angelo, who starts out as a taxi driver, but soon gets involved with the mob. The story is told in retrospect, so you're introduced to Tommy during the late 1930s while he is confessing the events of his sordid past to a detective--in exchange for witness protection.
Game play- you have to drive the speed limit and obey all stoplights if not you can choose to stop and get a ticket or run. When killing, you can lock on to targets, making the game better (shooting wise). The free-drive mode isn't really that fun, unless you like being able to spin people out or get into shootout with gangsters walking down the street. So I'd suggest sticking to the missions.
Missions- Mafia has a nice variety of missions. The storyline that goes along with them is well thought out and makes the game better. They're challenging and have neat objectives to them, making them a lot more fun. You're driving people around, killing other mobsters, or smashing stuff up, you're sure to find most of the missions in this game fun.
Graphics- the graphics in this game are nice! They really give you the feel of New York in the early 1930s-1940s. The PC version of the game hands down has the absolute best graphics.
However, despite some of the recent pros, there are things that you will notice that are very frustrating. What's particularly annoying is that you'll end up having to frequently drive from one side of Lost Heaven to the other, but just as you cross the midpoint of the city, a loading screen jarringly appears and takes its sweet time before it goes away.
The cars are sluggish slow vehicles, but that’s to be expected from cars of that era. You also lose chunks of your health at a time. But the whole theme of the game really captures the time period, and makes you feel like a badass mobster.
In the end it’s a good game with fun missions and graphics that are considered very nice for a 2004 game. If you don’t mind the screen loading than this is a game you should try out.

This is a great MAFIA game. I just wish that the story of the game was a lot more, and also for MAFIA II.
