To be honest, I am A major Sonic fan. Just because i'm A Sonic fan does not mean that I will give A game good ratings because it is A Sonic game. My first few moments with Sonic Heroes, the very few moments I had before I left for several days, did not impress me. Rather, I thought it was too flashy. After several days of playing PS1 at A friend's house, I returned. After my personal affairs were in order, I fired up my new Sonic game. Once I sat down and got into it, there was no argument. The levels are nearly straight, but remind me of Sonic Adventure. The gameplay consists of switching between 3 characters. I will use Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails as examples. When you want to go fast switch to Sonic. To beat badniks, generally Knuckles powerful punches deliver. Tails, obviously, is for flying. As usual Sonic games are dedicated to fulfilling A sense of speed. This game delivers speed in all forms of the word. Besides illegal forms, of course. You will find yourself pressing the switch buttons constantly in order to use all your characters abilities simoultaneously. The game runs very smoothly in terms of gameplay, but I do have some complaints. 1, if there is an enemy behind you, Sonic's (Espio's, Amy's, and Shadow's) homing attack will attack that one instead of the enemy directly in front of you. 2, Knuckle's (Vector's, Big's, and Omega's) attacks will often glitch out or just not work. This is no problem, considering, to fix the glitch, all you have to do is press the attack button again. 3, my final complaint, is with Tails (Charmy, Cream, and Rouge). When flying there is an invisible ceiling. Playing the game i'm confident you'll find this is completely unnecessary and A programming shortcut. As "all" the glitches are programming shortcuts. This is the result of Sega thinking about what they're going to do next year instead of thinking about what they're doing now. Don't let these petty, little glitches hold you back though, this game is still great! Although the gameplay is intense (In A good way) The storyline sucks. Also A result of Sega being too worried about next year. The sloppily thrown together plot doesn't have the dignity to even match up with the rest of the Sonic universe. Since when is Rouge puzzled about Shadow's past when she learned everything about him in Sonic Adventure 2? Overall, this is the most fast paced Sonic game to date of it's release. A game like no other! 8 out of 10.
