I've played this game, and sold it. Looking back, that was a horrible idea! Watching just the CGI intro, just that, made me want to buy this game. That scene was awesome! The game is perfect for any fan of war games! The campain story is good, and pretty lengthy. Plenty of guns to choose from the diverse maps you'll be on. And one of the best things, is that you can adjust the controlls. Not like "Southpaw?" adjust, but like.... each sperate button is open to change. As good as the campain is, I also am quite fond of the offline "multiplayer". You can battle offline bots on teams up to eight men!(I think it's eight, maybe seven or nine...). After deciding to get a mandolin rather than an XBOX360, I began to look into PS2 games again. So one of the FIRST games on the list I am going to buy, is this again. This and the online adapter. If the campain, AND offline battles are this good? Then the online combat HAS to be worth it. As I remember, the game was fun, but also very, very, challanging. Also, the faded colors and worn-out conditions of the battle ground add to the theme very nicely. The bottom lineis, it's got everything someone could want from a PS2 shooter. I'm buying it AGAIN. And if you haven't bought it before, than I highly recommend it.

ok game
PostedMarch 8, 2010
in my opinion, this was an ok game, the storyline was good, but not as deep as i expected, the single player campaign is long and challenging, the controls were easy to get used too,the sound was great even though the helgahst shout "reloading" in a hilarious way in the middle of combat, there is not much to interact with throughout the game, besides picking up guns and hitting people with your gun, there is no use for an action button, and the gun selection is not that impressive, you can choose from either isa weapons or helgahst weapons and even then you have your basic weapons, assault rifles, shotguns, pistols, snipers, and grenade launchers, the multiplayer is fun, you can play with a friend or by yourself offline, or go online if you have the network adapter, but even though i personally have never been online, the offline lags and does not live up to a full potential, but it keeps track of your stats of the games you have played, which i thought was cool, all together this game was better than average but could have done better, so i give it a 7 out of 10

Packed with enough content to stay busy.
PostedOctober 18, 2009
I have to say Killzone is a pretty good game. It has enough content packed in the game to keep you busy for weeks or months. The campaign is decent and has good length to it. But, occasionally the game will freeze up in spots but its just a mere second here and there. The weapon selection is pretty good also. I found the best part of the campaign was the story. When I find the story good or interesting the developers had to do something right because most in game stories turn me off. The CGI scenes are excellent ! The online is still up and running in 2009 ! That part of the game was a surprise to me as I am 5 years later to the party with this one. Also all of the online modes and match types you can play offline as what you would see in games like Perfect Dark, Timesplitters 2 where you can set up your bots, weapon types, maps and rules. Overall if they do cancel the online someday you can still play it offline against bots so this game is well worth picking up. The graphics are really pushing the PS2 hardware even though it was initially released years ago. The guns look fantastic. Character models of your enemies move kind awkward but that gives you that much more of a reason to mow em down with your guns. Bottom line is if you want a good game for your ps2 this is easily a good game to pick up. It falls short in some areas but those portions of the game are easy to look past.

Please Disregard The Hype/Bad Press
PostedMarch 3, 2009
If you consider yourself a hardcore gamer, you owe it to yourself to check out Killzone. While not necessarily a great game, Killzone did plenty of things right. Unfortunately, this is a game that is incredibly hard to separate from the hype. The single player campaign is serviceable, although certain elements of the story are both poorly executed and obvious. The game suffers from frame rate issues, pop-in, and low resolution textures which inexplicably swap into place. Even worse, the AI is horrendous. I have, on more than a handful of occasions, seen Helghast troops trapped by level design and collision detection issues. That being said, the action is surprisingly solid. Weapons are well balanced, and the level design is linear enough that it obscures the game's AI shortcomings, since (more often than not) you're approaching these guys head-on. The seemingly endless stream of bad guys helps make up for their collective lack of intelligence, especially when compared current-gen shooters. Even so, you're going to have a good time - especially if nostalgic gaming is your thing. Killzone boasts a surprising amount of detail, and sometimes, it's the detail that overwhelms the game and forces it to slow down. Fact is, it's precisely this kind of give-and-take that makes Killzone such a frustrating game to review. What it comes down to is a matter of preference, if you can deal with the hiccups, the extra degree of detail adds realism. On the other hand, maybe you'd prefer some of that detail was sacrificed for a smoother-running experience. While people have complained about Killzone's control scheme, it's worth noting that the lack of responsiveness was a conscious decision on behalf of Guerilla Games, who wanted to add a small learning curve to the typical shooter experience. Frankly, I enjoy Killzone's deliberate pacing. If you don't, you can always adjust the game's sensitivity in it's menu, which will make it feel a little more twitchy. Having initially played this a couple of years ago, I was surprised that it actually exceeded my expectations when I recently picked it up again. The game is occasionally challenging, but more often than not, this is the by-product of a stuttering frame rate (which makes it next to impossible to reliably take pot shots at your enemies). On the plus side, these guys are every bit as dumb as I remember - and picking them off while they're stuck running in a corner can be sadistic fun. Time has made me less critical of it's appearance, but those swapping textures are still jarring to look at. The campaign is substantial enough, and even though the story itself is barely adequate, shooters aren't generally esteemed for their plot - so I judge them a little differently. Overall, I recommend Killzone as a great diversion for serious gamers who don't mind encountering a little garbage along the way. Especially if you have a sense of humor about it. Games don't have to be perfect to be enjoyable - and this is one of them. You can't grade it based off of what might've been, no matter how great those prospects once were.
