Good But Outdated System
PostedMay 7, 2011
I've had my Xbox since about a year after they came out. I happily spent all my Christmas money on it, and spent hours and hours playing Halo 2 and FORZA with friends. Later on, I discovered the DDR games, and danced, stomped and jumped my way to an awesome fitness routine.
Time passes.
Boyfriend and I have an Xbox, PS2, PS3, and Wii. I've tried several of the DDR games for the Wii, and quite simply, they can't hold a candle in intensity to the old school Xbox. We play the Wii for party games, the PS3 for racing, and the PS2 is sadly neglected, and the Xbox is used almost exclusively for DDR now. I'll be sad when it gives up the ghost, but will be on the lookout for a replacement system when it happens.
It might be ancient history almost like the Atari 2600, but I love this thing! Would definitely recommend if you don't mind using an outdated system. Lots of good games out there for it.

Great Console
PostedApril 29, 2011
The Micrsoft Xbox was launched in 2001, nearly a decade ago, and I still think it is superior to the Xbox 360. Because of it's value, cheapness, and large stock of games, this is THE console to buy. Let's start the review: The console itself is rather large, bulky, and heavy, but that is not a problem. It includes four controller ports (we'll talk about those later) which function great, but the best part is that it comes with a built in hard drive with all the space you'll ever need (500,000+ blocks!). At the time, it was also renowned for it's superior graphics, which still hold up well today, even on some older games like Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding and Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Another great feature is custom soundtracks, which gives you the ability to load songs onto your Xbox (through disk or through the Xbox Music Mixer) and play them during your games. Unfortunately, not as many games use this as they should, but it is featured in nearly all racing games and many Mircrosoft published games. Controllers started off sort of steep, witht he original 'Duke' controller holding the record as the biggest controller ever, but it was remedied with the Controller S (Reccomended). Onto games. The Xbox has a huge library of games, but it does lack in some genres that are fading out these days: Platformers, Party Games, Puzzle Games, but there are some decent ones in each of these catagories (Psychonauts, Voodoo Vince, Monopoly Party, Trivial Pursuit: Unhinged, Fuzion Frenzy, and Tetris Worlds). The Xbox mostly specializes in shooters (thanks to Halo) and action games. The Xbox features many exclusive titles: Fuzion Frenzy, Voodoo Vince, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Halo and Halo 2, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Dead Or Alive 3, Amped, Top Spin, Project Gotham Racing, Blinx: The Time Sweeper, Jade Empire, Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic, Brute Force, NFL Fever, and many others. Some excellent thrid-party titles are: The Thing, State Of Emergency, Metal Gear Solid 2, Splinter Cell, Shenmue 2, Destroy All Humans, Rocky, the Mortal Kombat series, Tetris Worlds, Beyond Good And Evil, Mercenaries, Star Wars: Battlefront, and even Grand Theft Auto. Lots and lots of great games, and cheap too. The system was also noted for including online play, Xbox Live, although it is no longer supported. Complaints? Not many, but I should say that you cannot play DVD's on the console without buying the playback kit, even though it comes with a remote, it's still a rip-off, and should be included. Also, there are only two light-gun games for the Xbox (House Of the Dead 3 and Silent Scope Collection) and LCD Tv's don't use them. That said, this is a great, cheap, durable system with lots of great games. Reccomended. Also: If you want to find out about some other cool games, I suggest purchaing the seven Xbox Exhibition Discs, see below, and of course, buy Halo, THE game to play.

No new tricks but the old ones are still good
PostedMarch 19, 2011
Ever hear the saying you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Well, this is that old dog, but his old tricks are still amazing. What I'm saying is that this system is still so much fun, I would sooner recommend a 360, but if you don't want to save your money than this is still a good buy. Halo and Halo 2 are still so much fun to play on my 360, and i remember when I had this. I just played an original Xbox at my friend's house, and it was still great, the only thing I don't like about this system is that the controllers are bulky, but they aren't a problem as long as you aren't used to a smaller controller, which I was so that's why it was a problem. Great system, has amazing games for it, definitley a smart buy if you don't have enough for a 360. Enjoy it before it gets stopped being sold.

it's fine to use
PostedMarch 12, 2011
while it can't match the xbox 360, the original is still great. it has some great games, but they're hard to get. the controller has white and black buttons, the 360 does not. the system may not be much today, but if you can't get a 360, this is for you
