Without a doubt, the worst game I've ever played. This Sega's attempt to give Shadow a decent story, but they failed miserably. It was a game where you could choose Shadow to be a hero, a villain, or neutral. But Sega presents that concept to you in a terrible way. A good way would be to ask you at the start of level, then you'd have one objective. Instead, About a quarter way through the level, Another hero character will appear asking you to "help" them (AKA, do everything for them) with their task. Then another quarter into the level an evil floating starfish thing asks you to do what it wants. Depending on what person you want to help determines what path Shadows. Just going straight to the ends results in a neutral path. Sounds like a good setup, but the NPCs constantly ask why you aren't doing what they told you. The plot also pretty lame on the neutral path. Also, Shadow constantly curses. Not that I've got a problem with cursing, I hear everyday, but every time you take damage, die, or lose all your lives is just pointless. Believe me, I could on, but I think you've gotten my point by now.
Just simply a game starring Shadow is cool. I'm surprised SEGA never made a sequel. I mean, if Wario can do it Shadow should be able to. If I were Nintendo this would be the first 3rd party GameCube game to go on Wii U Virtual Console. Bottom line, Shadow the Hedghog could kick the butt of any Sonic game EASILY!
This game had such great potential because it was a shooting platform which are rare and hard to perfect. One flaw is that you can not even aim your own shots with the gun, the game does it for you and actually it fails pretty bad at locking on. The graphics are not very good. Any difficulty is from bad controls. My final complaint is that the game is not fast, which is what the sonic team is known for. Overall I would not recomend this game, but if they were to make a few changes for shadow 2 then I think it could be enjoyable.
