Five years ago Carl Johnson escaped from the pressures of life in Los Santos, San Andreas... a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs and corruption. This game is perfect for: casual gamers
Let me just start by saying this is the best game of all time to me. San andreas has so many things to do. Workout in the gym, do drive bys, go to casinos, export and import exotic cars, go on dates, take territory for your gang, and so much more that I can't think off the top of my head. There's a wide variety of ways to get around like mountain bikes and bmx's, atv's, motorcycles, trains, boats, cars, planes, helicopters, parachutes, monster trucks, hovercraft, jet packs, and more. There are also things you have to keep up with like stamina, muscle, and lung capacity. You can customize a lot, your hair, shirt, pants, and your car. You can change the color and add hydraulics, and its amazing. The missions are full of action and epicness. If you beat the game's story missions you are only at the beginning of the game. This game is full of cheats that just add to the game. They aren't like gta IV's cheats like full health and spawn helicopter. San andreas has cheats like cars fly, boats fly, bulletproof, freeze wanted level (At 0 if you want to do whatever you want) insane handling for cars, super punch which launches anyone you punch, infinite lung capacity, maximum strength, 10 times higher jump, higher bmx jumps so instead of bunny hops At 2-3 feet you end up going somewhere between 100-700 feet up, vehicle of death which explodes any vehicle you hit with yours, Full Health, Full Armor, $250,000, drive on water, I could really go on forever. There's also tons of Easter eggs to find. GTA IV should of took notice of San Andreas and took more from it instead of making the serious GTA IV they did. Overall San Andreas is still my favorite game even after I got my ps3 and all my newer games. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Before i get started with my review, if you want to you can add me on PSN my gamertag is ProGangsta2000, just make sure you state that you saw my review because i only add people i know personally but i can make exceptions. Now to my review, Grand Theft AutoSan Andreas is the BEST SandBox that is out there and that is still well known up to date. In my opinion i think its better than GTA 4 because, GTA 4 Lacked 2 major things. 1: is the overall map size. 2: Guns, theres only like 2 weapons for each category, in San Andreas they had a massive choice of weapons not to mention that its still the only GTA up to date that lets you pocess dual wield weapons!............. Now to San Andreas........ the storyline is brilliant, the weapon choice is good, the sound is acceptable, and the customization options are AWESOME.... you can work out, eat, buy houses, buy clothes, get haircuts and tattoos, customize your ride, and much more...... To tell you the truth i havent found any other game for any system that does all that............ i mean come on!!!!! i hope that GTA 5 isnt a dissapointment like GTA 4, and a better game than San Andreas...... otherwise GTA San Andreas is the BEST sandbox game out there............... oh and dont forget to add me on PSN, left my gamertag at the top of the review

I was somewhat disappointed with GTA 4. GTA: San Andreas was the reason for this; all of the GTA games give you a large amount of freedom. This is probably the reason for the series' success; you can run around a city with a rocket launcher or drive down the highway with a tank. San Andreas was so cool because it gave you a HUUUUUUUUGE map, like so huge that you could crash your car in the boonies and it would literally take 15 minutes to walk back to civilization (at which point I'd usually just drop a grenade at my feet so I'd "warp" to the nearest hospital.) It also introduced lots of little RPG elements such as: use certain guns more and you'd get better at using them, work out more and you'd get stronger (and your character model would reflect this), eat too many cheeseburgers and you'd resemble Fat Albert. This was cool because in the previous games you'd go on a few city-destroying rampages and all you'd have to show for it was large medical bills and substantially less ammo. San Andreas made it to where every time you played it gave you some sort of benefit. Run a bunch from cops? Better cardio. Shoot up a few police stations? Better aiming. Drive a dirt-bike all over the countryside and do flips? Better bike skills/balance and control. I've never played Saints Row 3 but I just recently started playing Saints Row 2 and it is similar in this regard. Not so much with gun skills/rpg elements, but you do earn "respect" which you "spend" to unlock certain missions. In this regard San Andreas does this part much better.
This game is 7-8 years old but the graphics hold up pretty well. It's not "Current-Gen-Nearly-Photorealistic", but it is quite appealing to the eye. The sound is great and it contains a HUGE soundtrack that you can listen to while driving around the several cities that encompasses "San Andreas." The Talk Radio Channel is once again a highlight of the game; you can kill quite a lot of time just listening to the ridiculous stuff you'll hear on the radio stations.
There are so many missions and side-quests and optional diversions that I don't even know where to begin. It can also be just as entertaining to make your own little diversions like trying to break into a military base to steal a chopper or jet or skydiving from as high up as you can get a plane to fly. This game is just as fun to sit down and plow through for half a day or kill 20 minutes blowing up cars with hand grenades. GTA 4 was a more highly-polished game with higher production values, but San Andreas gives you more freedom. San Andreas gives you 3 cities and all the land in-between; at times it's almost too much space, but this is a wonderful problem to have. This is not a game for kids; there is LOTS of violence, LOTS of bad language and "adult situations", but if the name "Grand Theft Auto" didn't tell you that young children shouldn't be playing this game you probably shouldn't be raising kids in the first place.
Don't let the age of this game fool you; this game is a VERY fun romp through fictional California and Nevada and you'll never be at a loss of things to do. It is by far the most ambitious GTA game made to date and might be one of the most ambitious games ever period. If you haven't played this game you own it to yourself to do so. This is what all open-world-games should aspire to. Once again I haven't played Saints Row 3 but it sounds as if SR3 might be on the same level (although I'm unsure if it'll have as large of a map as San Andreas does). Whenever it comes down in price a bit I'll review it and let y'all know.
