REALEYEZ
Almost flawless

This game takes you deep into the Corleone crime family, very in depth gameplay even down to a conversation with anybody in the open ended New York City. Marlon Brando was most impressive, the voice over was a very nice touch to an already impressive game. I would say the best feature I saw was the execution styles, theres over 20 that you can master, a shot to the head, a pimp slap then a stomp to the cranium. Or my favorite would be the shot to the gut then the bullet to the head(the hat comes flying off from the shot) very nice. All in all this game offeres plenty to do, robbing banks, taking over wherehouses, throwing women out of windows who crowd your apartment. And unlocking every snuff scene from the movie, even the death of the Don. This game definently has my vote and my respect. Great movie great game.

Amazing free roam crime game, especially if you think the whole "mafia" or "mob" kinda time-period and feel is cool. I LOVE THE SHOOTING SYSTEM. Hide behind a wall, pop out, BAM headshot, next victim. I love influencing the shopkeepers, although pretty easy. The real challenge is in getting 100% on it. I'm like 86% with almost 40 hours of gameplay. The warehouses are tough, tons of dudes everywhere. The A.I. is better than GTA when it comes to close combat gun fights. The rival family's capos will straight pop outta nowhere and blast you with a shotgun and say "I could say I'm sorry...but I'm not." GTA never gave me too big a challenge with cunning like that, the challenge was to not get shot by the 40000 Haitains, Ballas, Triads or whatever gang in whatever forsaken city you happen to be taking over. The Godfather only has one bad thing, the business takeovers, hubs, warehouses and such get so repetitive after time because all the bars have the same floorplan, all the whore houses have the same floorplan, and so on. It's like taking the same business 25 times. Other than that, killer deal for the money, GET IT, it's and offer you can't refuse.

A PS2 Gem!

Many reviews compared the Godfather: The Game, to Grand Theft Auto in almost every way imaginable. This is not GTA, this is a video game recreation of one of the greatest motion pictures ever made. The Godfather: The Game takes place in New York from 1945 to 1955 and captures pretty much every bit of trust, hate, anger, and blood thirsty revenge found in the original movie. Sure the game has some of the aspects of GTA, that being that it is a free roaming, sandbox game with many side missions and contract hits, but it is much deeper than anything I've ever played before. You actually get a feel for each character and have your own opinions on them that may either make you happy or sad when you get to whack them. The voice-acting and likenesses of each character is spot-on with great cinematic cutscenes to progress the story. As soon as you start the game, in the opening cutscene, you are about 9 years old when you see your father gunned down by a rival family and are consoled by Don Vito Corleone himself who told you to save your anger to seek revenge when you are mature enough. Skip ahead 9 years, and you are in the game. You get to customize your character however you want down to the last detail; moles, scars, hair part, eyes, wrinkles, and body build to name a few of the 100+ options. The fighting system is the best I've ever seen, the "Blackhand" fighting controls allow you to use the analouge sticks to grab or punch your character, even throw them off a bridge, slam them up against a wall, break the cash register with their head, or just beat them to their knees and finish them off with an execution style hit. To 100% the game and become "Don of NYC", you will need to extort every business for protection money along with buying out all rackets in the city and complete all of the contract hits issued. The main story line is intruiging and has a good replay value considering the side stuff. Graphics are what you'd expect, better than most games though, AI is good with enemies taking cover and going for vital areas that are exposed. Driving is fun, there are few cars but drive well and the horn sounds are spot-on. Whether you're a big "The Godfather" fan, looking to expand your PS2 library, or just tired of the same old sandbox game, "The Godfather: The Game" is a must buy if not one of the best underrated games of all time.
