Altair009
Classic PC game
PostedJanuary 16, 2009
I first tried spore at my friends house, and I loved it when I first started. I love the stages (especially the cell stage), and the customization is superb. The tribal stage could be better (i hate loners stealing my food), but it is so awesome how it switches to first person format, to age of empires format, then to your ship and you control the galaxy. I feel ( i know) that this game is as good as KOTOR is an rpg, and will soon become a classic just like it. I would definitely recommend this game. I just wish that you could play with other people (invade other galaxies, etc.) The price is expensive for a PC game, but the time and options that you could put into it would last you years after yerars of playing this game. Should be a game of the year pick.

Great game, to a certain point
PostedJanuary 2, 2009
alot of my friends have this game and they say its great. and it is. the customization is beyond superb, you can make your creature look like anything you see in your imagination. you can even customize your vehicles as well!! Each stage is like a new game. Cell stage, you need to learn to adapt to the environment, need to evolve smart enough to out smart your predators. when you reach land, you learn to comunicate with other species, decide whether you want them go extinct or not. And much much more to do after that. But eventually you reach the space age and the game becomes confusing and annoying. what your objective is beyond me, you have to colonize planets, but it wont let me for some reason. i called the support line, and after 2 hours, they didnt know what was wrong with my game, they suggested i buy a new copy or some crap. and besides the constant crashing, they really had a great idea and this couldve been a great game, but its not, (for me atleast) i suggest borrowing it from friend and decide wether you like it or not. Maybe your copy will be better.

The Doors
A very Innovative and promissing game

First, it seems to be all to common right now to be saying that Spore lacks the things needed to be a great game, and when i was reading these types of reviews i really second guessed buying this game. I strongly disagreee with that. It is also said that this game has some of each genre, which is not giving the game enough credit. Every stage is almost like a new game, it gets broader, and you get many more options as you move further into the game. It is also said that the Civalization and tribal stages have no differential, That is the most INACCURATE statement written in a review. They are also arguably the best stages in the game. In the Civalization stage you have to gather recources to sell, manage the happiness of your city to keep productivity at its height. Then you also have to fight battles. Anywhere from fighting off a city bombing to defending your spice derricks in the middle of the ocean. Or if you have great buisness you can just buy out the other nations. in the tribal stage you have to also build up your city, you have to build up your army. Buy then you've probably got some food and at least one ally. Just when you think that you are king of the world a rival tribe raids you killing everyone , you cattle your food , and burning any buildings you have spent all your recources on to build, so then your thinking you'll have to do a little more than that to conquer your continent.Eventually you conquer that tribe. But it is alot more then that. Once when i was playing i had my army waiting to ambush some enemy hunters and all of a sudden one of the "epic creatures" comes over picks up some of my men and eats them, he then steps on a few. Eventually we kill it but the bulk of my men are killed. So their are many things you have to do in this level: get food, Domesticate animals to use as cattle, ally with tribes or fight them, se traps, and ALOT more. The cell stage also deserves alot more credit. You really need to adapt to your surroundings, like once when i had put spikes on my sides i noticed larger cells came at me from behind so i put things that shot out poison their. I have not spent much time in the space stage, but that is also great. IN this and the civalization you can actually speak to other species and it makes it much easier to make peace or decalare war. In this stage you still need to gather recources (mainly red spice, blue spice, ect.) You also when trading must know who to trade with for better prices. You can also get colonies, establish trade routes and much more. Overall i say this is a great game if you are debating buying it i think you should stop debating and just buy it, i promise you, that you will really enjoy Spore.

Great!

I think the game is great if you have the computer to run it. I admit my first game there were one or two crashes, BUT I found frequently saving the game solved my problem. I have started 3 files and each one has had a number of different outcomes based on my history. If your game crashes don't blame your game blame your computer. It just might be too old to run spore. The game is amazing from start to finish. The creation tools are great and there are so many achievements to gain. It's always fun to see your creature from creature creator roaming around or become an epic. One of my favorite parts is swimming out too far in the ocean in creature stage and getting eaten by a giant water beast. All and all spore is a great game you should pick up and have a blast with.
