Big Disappointment
PostedSeptember 13, 2008
I don't understand the hype around this game. It was ok at first. I went from cell stage to space stage in about three hours. It seemed too easy (even with difficulty set on normal) until the space stage. The creature stage was kind of fun, but it went downhill from there. Once you reach the space stage, it sucks the big one. The combat and controls are horrible. It consists of holding the mouse button down over a ship or quickly clicking it until your finger hurts. No less than two of your colonies are under constant attack. Somehow, the aliens get 20 ships to attack and defend planets, but you are stuck with one. As soon as you finally get one of the enemy ships to low health, it will run away and make you chase it while the other ships shoot you. If you don't immediately catch it, it will fully heal in seconds. They can do this as many times as they want. It is actually impossible to play the game, because you are constantly moving from planet to planet to fend off alien and pirate attacks. Turrets are useless. If you play errand boy for some annoying aliens, you can get one of their ships to follow you around, but it is quickly destroyed by the incessant hostile alien attacks. The noises that the aliens make are more annoying than Jar Jar Binks. It made me want to immediately uninstall the game. This game is a waste of money.

What happened...?
PostedSeptember 13, 2008
Well, I had fun in until I hit the Civilization stage. I had a blast devouring other amoebas in the cell stage, and had a blast terrorizing my enemies in the creature and tribe stage. But when I hit the Civ stage, a thought sprung up in my mind. In a mere 4 hours, I was already heading toward the final stage. With some disappointment, I easily went through the Civ stage. The good news is that the space stage is filled with millions upon millions of star systems to explore. The bad news is that BECAUSE this galaxy is so big, enemies attack your planets every 5 minutes (I'm being serious), bio-hazards regularly break out on your planets, and your pathetic allies call upon YOU to defend them from the same aforementioned threats ALL THE TIME! Put simply, it is not humanly possible to handle such tasks as you progress further. Even more frustrating, because the universe is so large, I often get lost and cannot find my way back, because the game limits how far you can travel from planet to planet. Also, the game has little replay value, aside from seeing your custom created creatures in movement. I am very disappointed with this game, and I caution anyone who wants to try it. Just get the Creator.

Wow Great Game

This game is so fun and addicting. You get to design everything from your creature and ships and such to modifying planets to you're liking and attacking or allying with any civilization in the galaxy. Anybody who says this game sucks obviously hasn't played it, hasn't given it a chance or has no creativity what so ever. I could play this game forever. There are probably thousands of solar systems you can visit, take over and change to you're liking and there are hundreds of other civilizations you can interact with. This game is extremely fun and I would recommend this game to anybody. This is a completely new type of game and there are a surprisingly little amount of bugs and problems. So if you like complete freedom in games and extremely fun gameplay as well as customization then GET THIS GAME IT ROCKS!

Destined for the clearance rack!
PostedSeptember 12, 2008
I was very excited for this games release, unfortunately it was a huge let down! The beginning section with the small amoebas and the first land creature section was by far the funnest parts of this game. Early on It had really neat sounds, graphics and customizable features. It really appeared that the first portions of the game were designed by someone who really cared and took their time with the design. The beginning of the game had a completely different feel then the latter portions of the game. Frankly, it just seemed extremely rushed and sloppy. I was not impressed with anything beyond the creature stage. Once I hit the tribal age and beyond I quickly grew bored and have stopped playing it all together. The graphics past creature stage are pathetic, the sound is horrible, the controls are worthless, and the customizable features I enjoyed early on are completely non-existent. They should have expanded on the first portions of the game and kept the game going where it was good! Save your money and wait until this thing hit's the clearance rack. It should be there in a month or two.
