This game is amazing, it is definitely worth a buy. When I first heard about this game about 2 months ago I for sure thought it was going to fail. But I was wrong. I started to get into watching videos of it and soon i was hooked. I knew this game would be awesome so after a long wait it came out and I bought it. WELL WORTH YOUR MONEY. It's fun, easy to control, easy to understand, and being able to create your own creatures is an amazing idea Maxis thought of. Now to discuss the bad things. Firstly the graphics were sort of a let down for me, I thought I'd see popping colors that were very interesting, sadly no, my computer can't support high quality or else it lags too much, so basically I have to run it on low, which graphics kinda suck at. Secondly after you pass the Civilization stage, you can only command your tribe to hunt for you which I didn't like very much, but I did get over it and it's still very fun. Thirdly the gameplay is very short so don't expect this game to be long at all. Once you hit the space stage it goes on forever but basically you've conquered your world, and it's very difficult to conquer others. So buy this game cause it will occupy you for a very long time and it is well worth the ** dollars.

Innovative and Fun
PostedSeptember 8, 2008
Spore is certainly one of the most innovative games to come out in a while. It has brought a new level of gaming to the user that touts customization and control over storyboard story and cutscenes. The control of customization the game gives you is outstanding, and one can certainly see that through the vast array of creatures that people have created (ranging from the juvenile creatures to a clone of Mario). That is not to say that the game does not have its flaws, however, as it is lacking in several areas. The first problematic area is the graphics. This type of game does not need to have good graphics, but I am confused as to why the minimum system requirements are so high. The graphics could be very much compared to something like the Sims 2, a game several years old and a game requiring a much less robust computer to play. The second problematic area is the complexity of the game itself. The customization is great and really makes the game a ton of fun. However, the first couple stages (cell, tribal, creature) seem like a trial and tutorial stage rather than part of the game. The rest plays like an average RTS of sorts and really disappoints on that level.

Great but with a few flaws
PostedSeptember 8, 2008
The game is amazing don't get me wrong. The first 4 stages are nearly perfect, the space stage however, is amazing but a ltitle unreasonable. Let me explain, let's say you want to go mess with some primitive creatures, you start flying over, and BAM pirates attack your homeworld, you go back, BAM pirates attack your colonies, you get the picture? If you make the wrong choice of enemies, you're kinda screwed unless you get EVERYONE else to attack them. All in all, Spore is incredible and probably my favorite game, if I could turn off the pirates and enemies, it would be my favorite. Spore is amazing for everyone that has ever loved any customization, simulation, or likes charming graphics. The squeaks of your creature can get annoying, the dialogue is pretty funny.

Spore eehhhh
DRM + Lackluster gameplay
PostedSeptember 8, 2008
Spore started off to be an interesting sounding concept. Two years later, the game comes out. After playing it for a while, it gets very repetitive and boring. The highlight of the game is the ability to make different creatures. The gameplay was made very simplistic.Another killer aspect for most people is the DRM that has been included with this game. You have to have an internet connection to register the game which is required to play. Also, you only get three installs of the game. After that, you are either locked out of your own game, or have to contact EA to try and get them to allow you to install your game again. You do not get credit for uninstalling the game from your machine like some other DRM software. If your machine needs reformatting or you need to replace hardware parts, that will take more than one of your three allowable installs.
