I really dont see the use of all the sequels they make of this game, I can realize they want to bring back the orginal, so that young gamer can visulize the first game that was released 1991, but come on. They probably made about 10 different versions of this game since the one on the genesis, and i'm sick of it. This game is nothing you havn't seen so please stay away from this game.

Horrible Game!!!!

Sonic 1 first came out in 1991and Sega's blue icon became a legend. With a bunch of sequels, re-releases, and re-makes, here is the version that is terrible, and that's on the Gameboy Advance. In 2006 to celebrate their 15th anniversary of Sonic, they re-released the first Sonic on Gameboy and oh boy, this is just the intro to this review. This is what the game is. It had a slow frame rate, TERRIBLE collision detection, awful music that makes you want to turn the sound off, the sound effects sounded identical to a Atari game for the late 70s & early 80s, and it was zoomed in which made the game very hard to play. Also, the level select and debug cheats were scrapped from the game. Plus, the save feature sucks, its just a pick a level screen which you have to suffer throughout the game to get all of the levels. The ending sucks because that took all the flowers out during the true ending when you collected a 6 emeralds. Overall, this is a terrible and only crazy sonic fans who are like 7 or 8 years old would play this terrible port.

If you want to play a horribly broken and buggy mess of a game then go ahead and give Sonic the Hedgehog a try. This game is a remake of the original Sonic the Hedgehog but it's missing the care and love that went into the Sega Genesis game. The only redeemable quality the game has is the fact that it adds the spin dash that was introduced in Sonic 2 on the Genesis. But that isn't enough to save this horrible train wreck. The game stutters every time you run or hit a spring and then the framerate just dies when you pick up an invisibility item. The audio is off-pitch and the remixed music doesn't sound anything like the original music. I dare you to try and get past the first level before you smash your GBA in frustration or before crying in agony at how terrible this game is. Do yourself a favor and avoid this game at all costs.
