This game is something else. So, in 2006 they are making a sonic game, and they decided to port this at the same time. The lag is HORRIBLE, and the screen is WAY too zoomed in. I know SEGA could've made a better game. Wait, no I don't.

I got Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis in summer of 2007 as a surprise, since then I've been playing it on and off. Honestly, I disagree with the popular opinion, this game is not that bad.
I'll start with the good, this is the Sonic game I know and love, same levels, badniks, and concept. Graphics are colorful and it still has the same adventure of helping Sonic free cute little animals from Dr. Robotnik (or Dr. Eggman if you prefer). Controls are simple like the original as well.
The bad, there is slow down on and off, the worst slow down that happens is during Labyrinth Zone and parts of Scrap Brain Zone. At times there are some glitches I ran into, and some slight graphical differences (example spring upside down).
Despite the few problems, I still got enjoyment out of this game, just as much as I did playing any other version of Sonic.
Would I recommend it? Yes and no. Yes because Sonic the Hedgehog is a great game. No because newer handheld versions have come along for the DS and 3DS since this release.
I have no idea how this even got made. They are lots of great Sidescrolling platformers on the GBA but this is not one of them! This is a port of the first Sonic game on the Sega genesis or Sega Mega Drive depending on what conutry your from. I liked the first Sonic game but this is the worst port ever! The Camra is to far zoomed in for you to see ahead of you. The Sound is glichy. And the fram rate is low & unpreaictible. They are lot's better games out thare. They are ports of the old Sonic games on the DS & Wii VC as well as other collections if you want to play them don't buy this. If you are looking for a awesome Sonic game on the GBA try the Sonic Advance games the were great!
