Genji: Days of the Blade

The Tale of A Legendary Samurai Returns!Genji: Days of the Blade unveils beautiful next generation graphics and vastly improved gameplay onto the PlayStation 3. As one of the few Japanese/sword action games available on the PlayStation 3 during the launch window, Genji: Days of the Blade will capture the attention of the hardcore gamer/early adapter eager for a "traditional" gaming experience. This game is fun when you try it in the demo and also when you buy it... until you get to the third level. Then you realize that your doing the same thing over and over and over again. The enemies are very easy to kill, granted you may die a few times mainly because you get attacked by a thousand of the same exact looking enemies at the same time. There are a few different types of enemies but you just end up killing the same exact thing anyways. The graphics are decent although I expected better for a PS3 title, the sound is decent but it annoyed to hear the same anoying sounds of the forest over and over again and you cant understand the voices, the game play is repetitious, and you dont get to control the camera at all. There are about 20 PS3 titles that are 100 times better than this so please do yourself a favor and dont by this game.

Released during the early stages of the PS3, Genji: Days of the Blade is a pretty solid game. The story follows a warrior named Yoshitsune and his band of friends Shizuka, Benkei and a revived soul named Lord Buson. Each of these warriors have a weapon in which they specialize in; Yoshitsune carries two samurai swords, Shizuka wields a whip, Benkei heaves a giant club, and Lord Buson basically carries a double ended spear.Through out the game, you can upgrade your weapons by using jewels called Amahagane, which also can be used to increase you Kumai gauge (A gauge which allows special attacks to be performed) at anytime your gauge is full. The plot of the story involves the characters mentioned above, fighting demonic warriors from the underworld called the Heishi. These warriors are led by a mysterious old woman, with evil intentions as you dwell deeper into the game. After playing through this game, I have encountered a vast amount of awesome videos and gameplay as I ventured through the many lands provided in this feudal era, but there has been issues. One of the problems that you may encounter while playing this game is the camera. At certain points in the game, it feels like the camera is more of your enemy then the enemies you encounter.Another problem for some gamers maybe the barrage of enemies that happen to appear on the screen. Through out the stages, Heishi warriors will come by the dozen to take you down and fellow comrades, and for some stages this maybe difficult to handle, so be prepared to take quite a few hits.Graphics wise, Genji:Days of the Blade has cinemas that look like PS3 potential but when it comes to in-game graphics, they still look like PS2 quality graphics. Overall this game has the recipe of a good game, but falls short of being an excellent one.

So I bought this game because I actually still enjoy the PS2 predacessor. The story works but the camera sucks. I honestly never lose interest in a game after the first level is complete but I was losing intrest in this on several points in the game. with no camera control i found myself fighting a barrage of hidden enemies due to lack of camera control. I enjoyed the story but hated the gameplay due to this one flaw. so if you can get past that you may also enjoy the story otherwise dont waste your time

I play this game every now and then but it is so boring. game play is slow and repetitious, and I think I payed like 4 bucks to much. If you want a real good game play ninja gaiden sigma 2.
