Its not too bad of a time...
PostedJune 12, 2012
one night I was playing this at a neighbors house and had a good time. the next day I had an impulse and bought the Wii used from gamestop. For the price I wouldn't say it was too worth it. I know it was used, but for a whopping $30 off the new price (when I did buy it) you'd expect a descent looking system. The one I received was all scuffed up and had smudges and black marks all over it. You would have thought they at least wiped it down. It also had a wireless motion bar which is cool, but goes through 4 AA batteries within hours of use. I was upset when i found out that there were only avi cables in it. I bought 2 mario games with it to bring back some old school gaming and no complaints there. But, on a plus note, there was mario kart in the system when I opened it up, so that was cool, but now I dont have a case for it. Every now and then I look for games for it but they all seem too childish and cheesy, plus as many of you may know, basic avi does not work too well on lcd tv's... Especially large ones.. The Wii doesnt even work through my suround sound hooked up to the tv with an hdmi port. So to make this more simple, the Wii is cool when there are a few people involved playing it, but the game play is horrid on hd tv's. It now resides as a waste of cash but a collection of dust...

I love the Wii. When it came out five years ago, I was awestruck by the motion controls it had even then. The Wii was almost a household name, If you hadn't held a Wii remote in your hands, someone in your family did. It was a great system and will forever be my favorite system in this generation of games.
The Wii does have its triumphs over the PS3 and Xbox 360, and here they are.
1) The Price. As the Xbox and Playstations were coming out with their opening prices, Wii was able to make their console half the price. This does NOT mean it's cheaper. It was a great system and it was appealing to a larger crowd. People with Gamecubes didn't feel the need to buy an Xbox when they could have Backwards Compatibility, preserving the values of the games they already had. When it came to saving money as a buyer, you would immediately look to the Wii.
2) Controllers. Nintendo always had the best accessories when it came to gaming. Power Glove, Zapper, R.O.B., and those were just for the NES. Gamers could go for the Classic Controllers when casual fans could swing a Wii remote. Instead of teaching your dad that a joystick is used to aim, you could point a sensor to the screen and shoot. Oh, by the way, IT'S MORE REALISTIC! Some 12 year old kid said to me that Goldeneye 007 was stupid because the accuracy was off and that using an XBOX controller would be easier. When would I move my thumbs around in order to hit targets in real life?
3) UUNUNUNUNUNNNNFFGGGFFGFF!!!!
THE WII IS SOOO AWESOME!!! YOU SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN IT! GET THE WII U INSTEAD, THOUGH YOU WON'T HAVE TO WASTE MONEY ON A CONSOLE WITH NO INNOVATION LIKE THE XBOX.
I'm sorry, I'm done raging.

There's a fair ton of hardcore gamers who are giving this console a bad rap for absolutely no legitimate reason. In fact, anyone who so severely and negatively reviews this console must be completely incapable of any true appreciation of the gaming world. Whether you prefer the hardcore first person shooters that are the trademark of consoles like Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 or not, you should seriously respect the Wii. There is a reason why Nintendo has ruled the games industry since reviving console gaming in the wake of Atari's fall from grace, and the Nintendo Wii is a veritable example.
You see, where Sony and Microsoft have so successfully appealed to hardcore gamers - which, while certainly loyal and vehement, are still only a small portion of the potential consumers - Nintendo has created a console for *everyone*. If you're a hardcore gamer or a CoDfish, good for you. Unfortunately, the other 85% of the population isn't that fervent about carrying out glorious virtual campaigns. Gaming is, first and foremost, an entertainment industry, not the exclusively trigger-happy zombie-killing no-girls-allowed club that others make it out to be. Nintendo is one major game company that realizes this.
Does your Grandma own a PS3? No. How about a 360? Of course not. But does Grandma have a Wii? Odds are, she does. Everyone from enthusiastic little schoolboys to the older crowd who usually veers away from all this technological hullabaloo will still go for the Wii. Why is that? Let us count the reasons. Do you miss the classics from the NES's hayday? Good news! The Wii's Virtual Console offers an extensive library of all their old hits, as well as other retro games - even from non-Nintendo consoles like the Genesis and regionals like the Commodore 64 - all available for purchase with your Wii points. Need to work out more, but don't like having to go out to the gym and what? Good news! In case you haven't heard, Wii Fit and Wii Sports, among others, offer a good daily exercise routine in the comfort of your own home. Not crazy about the intense horror games or shooters? Good news! The Wii has plenty of variety, including puzzle games like Boomblox and Tetris Party Deluxe, sports games like the Madden NFL series and other EA Sports games, music games like Just Dance and the classic Dance Dance Revolution, and even educational games for the kiddies like Reader Rabbit and Carmen Sandiego! And, if you’re a hardcore gamer of the RPG variety rather than the FPS variety – like myself (wink, wink) – there’s Rune Factory, Arc Rise Fantasia, and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. Still yawning and saying, “What else?” Just go Google Wii games or something. If you don’t find some nifty games then poke a monkey and call me Dennis.
Oh, and yes, CoD is available on Wii. Yes, that means Black Ops. Although Nintendo has released an official statement that the console and Black Ops have some incongruities, and if either your game or the console stops working, Nintendo will replace them regardless of your warranty condition!! (So any of you whining because “CoD stopped working blah blah blah this is stoopid”, you don’t. Have. An. Excuse.)
Nintendo was incredibly savvy in their production and marketing of this console. The Wii appeals to an audience of everyone, and it’s a console with a sleek, good-looking, and functional design. The hardware is high quality and player satisfaction is basically guaranteed. (Here’s one reason I herald Nintendo above any other console maker: they don’t screw around. Nintendo will accept nothing but the best for themselves and their customers. They care what you think, and they release nothing unless they are confident in its quality. If ever a company went by the motto “The customer is always right”, Nintendo does.) The variety of games available from retailers and from the Virtual Console and WiiWare stores (both available through the WiiShop channel) gives you plenty of options. (Oh, yeah, the Wii plays Gamecube games, too!)
Nintendo shows their mettle with this console. Hardcore gamers shouldn’t miss out on PS3 or 360, for sure, but for everyone else: this is it.

The reason for the Graphics
onJune 23, 2012
The difference between graphics is that the Nintendo Wii uses a red laser to read the discs, the PS3 uses top of the line Blu-Ray readers.
