When i played this game i thought it was the perfect dragon ball z game! they nailed it on all most every aspect of the game, the animation is almost flawless, the charecter selection has almost matched the actual show and the way they alow you to execute fighting techniqes excellent. I believe that if you enjoy fighting games as much as i do this is a must have and even if you are not a fan of the show you'll still enjoy this game, i all so recommend its predicesors DBZ:Budokai Tenkaichi and DBZ:Budokai Tenkaichi 2 , and even if the story mode dosn' t excite you you the multyplayer, probably my favorite feature, lets you experience the DBZ world with your friends and it's allways more fun when you have someone to humiliate so don't hesitate go out and get a copy of this game now!

Great fighter

This is definetly a game to pick up if you're a fan of the series or just fighting games. Graphics: The in-game graphics look very good for the PS2, and are very seldom glitchy. The look and feel of the characters definitely resembles the anime. Challenge: Definitely a difficult game, no matter what setting you put it on. With a large amount of different characters with different moves and strengths, it can be quite a challenge to defeat and master them all. Controls: The controls work great. Everything is simple to master, but will take some time and practice to lay down some of the better combinations and attacks. Unlockables: With over 160 characters, 20 stages, and tons of special powerups to unlock, this game offers tons of unlockables that will keep you busy and entertained for some time. Special Moves: Most characters have different special moves, the ones that are the same do differ a bit. Could be better. Storyline: The story line is decent. Definitely not as good as its prequels. The story was also WAY too short and cut out some of the better, more important fights that took place in the anime. Character Balance: Could be a lot better. You'll find yourself using many differents powered fighters. Some of which are far stronger than others. Overall its a great fighter and definetly worth trying out or picking up, can't go wrong.

This is a good one

This is a good one, maybe the best DBZ to release in the states. But where there are improvements there are takeaways. They made the combat system much, much better in exchange for an actual story. They added voices during battle, and they took out key elements of the story that make DBZ, you know, DBZ, I'm sad to say. The combat was surprisingly great, the best to date and for ** dollars you can't go wrong, can you? If you want a good fighting game that's fun to play on your own and a real challenge, then this is for you. You should probably be an anime fan though, if you're not, then you're not going to like this. I find this to be a very pleasing experience, and I can't put down the controller no matter how frustrated it makes me. An excellent fighting system but poor story.

The Phoenix King
Not as good as two.

I've played Tenkaichi one and two and enjoyed them both immensely, but Tenkaichi 3 really disappointed me. The graphics are better (only slighty and to be fair more stages account for most of the graphical upgrades) and the sound, extras and story are all intact with great effects. Then we get to the meat and potatoes of any game, the gameplay which I'm so very sad to say fell flat on it's face. The controls, first off, were always awkward to me since I play many 3-d fighting games my reflex to block is the r1 button which I could change in the options menu of the first two editions. Tenkaichi 3 however only allows you to change the face buttons leaving me with the option of getting used to the circle button for blocking or getting my face pummled over and over. So I decided to give it the old college try and started Dragon History mode, which is good but pressing the R3 button to advance the story in battle just wasn't as engaging to me as playing different battles. Then I tried to dash...and went head first into a mountain. In the previous games pressing dash without directional buttons initiated a dash toward your opponent whereas now you simply dash in the direction you face. Some of my friends liked this change but most of us simply refused to play again after we discoverd this. My biggest complaint is the AI which reminds me of a junior high school fight. Sounds odd but it really is the same. I'm ready to fight so I approach and my opponent turns tail and runs and starts throwing stuff at me afraid to throw a punch. Once his arm is tired I try again fruitlessly to close the distance as he goes and ducks behind something. I really wanted to like this game, I really did, but there are too many control and AI issuses for me to recommend it to anyone. The series should evolve from here and come up with something spectacular. Especially after this failure.
