Get it before it's gone

Unfortunately, this gem is discontinued. So I urge anyone who reads this to grab it if they've got the extra cash, because not only does the Camera have an excellent microphone attached to it, it produces images in clean, crisp resolution. For ** bucks, it's a great deal, actually, it's an AMAZING deal! Because you can find a half decent USB microphone for roughly **-** bucks, and a good webcam at roughly ** bucks. This Camera is great for the PS3, and beats the competition in both price and product value. Not to mention, there are some great games already created for the PS EYE, and they never fall short of being spectacular. Also, it beats the Mac Photobooth at its own game, as it has more features and ways to goof around with than the photobooth, and it all comes in through the unique Eye create program. (That's free) off of the PSN. Whether it be making X-ray pictures, making pictures look like Negatives, Mirror images, distorted images, colour hues, or adding a ghost trail, the Eye Create program is a must if you have the Playstation Eye. The design of the camera is by no means clunky or out of place, as you can easily just plug and unplug it from the USB port on the PS3 and tuck it away if need be. In terms of the quality of the microphone, it's absolutely phenomenal, as you could be sitting on your couch, facing your TV and saying something, and the microphone will clearly pick up any sound you make, as it harnesses (If I can remember correctly ^^) a 6 way mic system..basically catching every noise that comes in its general direction. The Camera itself (as it's the main feature) is great. As I said before, everything is projected in a clean resolution, and it also comes equipped with a small zoom function. Although you have to manually switch its zoom modes, it's something that you really don't need to worry about too much. Also, don't worry about focus or anything, as it seemingly autofocuses on what the camera is facing without any worries. Bottom line - Buy this if you have the extra cash! The Playstation Eye is an amazing piece of technology that is so good, that it's probably making sony lose money, thus why it's being discontinued. It has everything necessary for an adequate gaming camera, and then some and it would be a mistake not to pick this up given if you have the opportunity and need a microphone or a system camera or both.

COOL Gadget -- but not a must

Contrary to popular belief the camera is not HD, as the product description states, it's only 640x480, which is pretty good, but not better than any other webcam on the market right now. Any USB camera can be used with the PS3, so this one isn't an absolute necessary accessory. On the other hand, for the price and the games, if you don't already have a webcam and mic that you use for the PC, this may not be a bad purchase. Even though you may not need the PSEye, it should definetely be noted that the games are definitely worth a look. Not to mention how sweet it is to be able to video chat with anyone around the world over the playstation network -- which is a free feature. That in itself may make this a worthwhile purchase for some people.

PS EYE=Most innovative peace of tech

I bought this cam last year, but I have to say, its more innovative than anything you have ever experienced in your life. I would go far enough to say its more innovative than the Wii mote. For this price its a steal. There are lot of games you can play, but before I get to the gaming aspect of the device lets talk about its feature. Its an HD cam running at 60fps in full 1080p HD, works as a cam to just video chat with friends on the playstation network, and it also has a bulit in Microphone. The technology is so advanced that you are literally in the game moving things with your hand. Its just too amazing to explain in clear words. Now to the games, this cam currently has over 10 games available of the playstation network. Eye create, Operation Creature Feature, and Trials of Topoq are just 3 of the incredibly innovative games of the PS EYE exclusive to the Playstation 3. Trust me, I recommend this product to anyone.
