If you like shooting games, get this

There are a multitude of accessories to attach to the wiimote to appeal to people. Some are stupid, like the tennis rackets and baseball bat. Others, like this, are very functional. I was very reluctant to buy this, as I figured it's a cheap piece of plastic for novelty purposes, but it was used, so I figured 12 bucks wasn't too bad (although 14 isn't bad either, saving a couple bucks is always good). First, this seems very stable. It feels like the only thing you could break is the orange square that goes over the wiimote. The only fault in its design is that you have to take off the strap, but that's a minor inconvenience. The first game I tried this was House of the Dead Returns, a classic rail shooter. After a few minutes playing with it, I was hitting things more accurately. I was never really able to shoot the birds out of the sky unless they flew closer, and with this, it seemed easier. However, I was playing with this for a while, and I had some discomfort in my hand because of the big handle. The trigger also lowers your shooting times a little, since it's a bit harder to pull the trigger than hit the B button on the wiimote. Like many others have said, it makes it near impossible to hit the +, -, 1, and 2 buttons, so it's not particularly ideal for games like Metroid Prime 3. Overall, I'm very satisfied, even with its minor flaws. Just using this for House of the Dead was enough to come on and say that this is a very satisfying purchase. This is one of those accessories that is well worth it, even as a plastic shell.

The Perfect Shot has finally made shooting a gun with the Wii Remote actually fell like shooting a gun. It does take a while to relearn how to point and aim on the TV screen. It has improved my aiming in games like Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Battalion Wars 2. Despite what others say it feels very comfortable in your hand and it is very easy to slide the Wii Remote in and out of it, but you have to remove the wrist strap for it to fit in. The nunchuk connects to the gun via a port on the bottom of the handle. The only disadvantage is that the gun makes it harder to push the A,+,-,HOME,1,2, and Control pad because your thumb is further away from the front of the Wii Remote. These buttons are especially important in games like Battalion Wars 2, where you have to give orders to your soldiers while shooting. I found a good to fix this by spinning the gun while your index finger is inside the trigger guard to use my thumb to push the buttons. I also can use the hand that holds the nunchuk to push the top buttons. Overally I would buy this over the Zapper because the nunchuk is still free in your hand.

The best ...out of a bunch of rotten apples?

This gun is terrible. From what I can only guess, is that the reason this gets such RAVING reviews is because of one thing: it's one of the very very few pistol-shaped accessories that actually functions like a pistol. That does NOT mean it does it WELL, but since it's one of the very few, everyone flocks to it like a wii accessory holy grail. Let me start by explaining this: for whatever reason, there's a ton of companies producing wii accessories right now in hopes of cashing in on the craze--that's fair enough. The reason we need to keep that in mind is that a lof of those accessories are utter, and total GARBAGE; the wii "gun" accessory selection is a great example of too many hats in the ring and not enough winners to go around. You would think that if you made a gun-shaped controller accessory that it would function like a gun, or at the very least, have a higher function than literally just looking like a gun while attach your controllers to it--but apparently that thinking is above some of these people because there's about a dozen gun-shaped controller adaptors out there that do NOTHING. With many of these "guns" you're still having to stick your finger on the B button on the front of the wiimote and press the button manually while there is no actual trigger mechanism at all: that's the worst concept ever. The Perfect Shot actually has a functioning trigger... but it doesn't function all that well; it's simply too long inside the gun, and so you find yourself having to squeeze the trigger almost all the way back/in as far as it goes before it touches the B button of the wii remote and in turn fires your weapon in the game. On top of that,if you don't have large hands you'll instantly notice the moment you pick the gun accessory up that the grip itself is rather wide, and rather... square-ish, with slightly rounded corners to pretend that it isn't. This is fine for the first few minutes of gaming but after a while this is bound to lead to fatigue--don't forget that the extra-long trigger mechanism is also spring-loaded, so you're not only squeezing it all the way back but also you have to do it over and over, making it much more like an exercise in index finger dexterity rather than being a fun, useful tool for gaming. It's a great idea, and the ONLY concept that there should be for this type of accessory, but a handful of us have realized that it definitely isn't "Perfect" by any means. I've actually found a third-party product on a certain auction site that surprisingly does a fantastic job--if my satisfaction level with the Nyko Perfect Shot was rated as 30%, I'd say the after-market junky looking gun from overseas rates about a 94%

Perfect sidearm

When I first saw the 'Shot' on this website I was skeptical. I am a Zapper fan, having reached max weapons on Ghost Squad. The Zapper design suits games based on assault weapons or multi-button scenarios. After playing Target Terror with the Zapper, I thought again about the Perfect Shot. 'Terror' does not allow for various button configurations which hinders play with the Zapper. I bought the 'Shot' yesterday; it didn't take me very long to change my initial impression. The 'Shot' without the Wii-mote fit very nicely in my hand. The little extra weight of the Wii-mote gave it a balanced feel. I played a quick round of 'Terror'. I quickly slaughtered a bunch of bad guys which cleared any remaining doubts about the 'Shot'. Today I played House of Dead 2 & 3 with the 'Shot'. For kicks I even played some Ghost Squad with it. The Perfect Shot is the Perfect Sidearm for the Wii. The Perfect Shot and the Zapper = lots of dead bad guys!
