I bought this system new over 3 years ago and have used it almost every day since and I have never had a problem with it. We watch DVDs and Blue rays, stream netflix, browse the web and of course play games! All I have had to do to keep it working like new is blow the dust out of it with canned air when the fans turn on to the high speed setting too soon. Yes, there are two fan speeds. If the fan goes to the high setting in just a few minutes of use then it has a layer of crud on the internals that will cause it to overheat and die. It is easy to clean too. Mine has finished all of the 24 hour endurance races on Gran Turismo 5 and has even been left on for over a week at a time with no cool off period and it is still good as new. The slim versions are not as durable but these 80gig units are great! I recommend these to everyone that asks!

This is by far the better version of all the PS3's +backwards compatible(90% personal collection) +media streaming-music-movies +blu-ray-DVD/CD- +4 USB/card reader +same functions as a slim, 3-D support, HDMI, +less failures than the 60gb Over all I have had this wonderful piece of equipment for well over 2 years...and the only issues I have encountered was the HDD dieing..other than that.
I got this with some of my birthday money and i got Mw3 and Pre-Ordered Black ops 2. The system works great, the 60 and 80 gb are backwards compatible with Ps2 and Ps1 games ands thats really helpful for me. Again, I LOVE IT.

I had this PlayStation for about 1 year till i traded it in for the slim. Let me tell ya it is a definite work horse. It works well, its not too loud and you really get your money's worth out of it. I would tell anyone to get this system just because the lifespan of it is much much better than Xbox has. Overall this system is great and i think its underrated compared to how everyone puts the Xbox on a pedistle where it is a worthless piece of scrap metal. PlayStation is for the win.

If you are going to buy a ps3 buy the new version.This version gets this yellow light of death.I only had it for like 8months and its broken.cool device but buy the new one so you wont have to phone sony.
