Bob "No, I'm Not Turning Right" K
Good for Rookies, NOT for more Advanced!!!
PostedJune 21, 2008
The real deal is this.... The game is a re-hash of the '08 game and nothing really is new including the way the cars drive. Starting out of the box, I ran in the PRO level & immediately won the first 4 races that I have run. If you are a rookie, maybe you'll like this game. The cars are so easy to drive & the new COT does not drive any different from the other cars. The company should have dumped the medallions & chase plates & used the extra memory on improving the abilities of the cars with more radical tuning capabilities. It's so hard to believe that I can win at Daytona with a 14 second lead even after the required pit stop. If I'm that good, then I should be behind the wheel of a real NASCAR. There is a much better game that is older & actually starts you out in the old stock car dirt track series & makes you have to work your way up. It's much better than this game, regardless that someone said there are alot of the new drivers in this game.... Yeah, and your point is??? Bottom line... This is not the game that I. HOPED for... Maybe someday they will start listening to the customers!!!! Take a hint...FIX or RE-INVENT THE NEXT GAME!!!!!

A.J. 88 fan
For all of u na sayers
PostedJune 18, 2008
I don't care what everyone else says I think the game is awesome they repaved the track at Talladega they put Dale, Jr., new car in the game. They the new guys Patrick Carpentia I have no clue how to spell his last name. Also Sam Hornish, Jr., who might have a bright career ahead of him. So for all of the people who said this game sucks u should really learn how to respect the way EA sports runs things with nascar games. You guys need to really sit down and get to know what this game really has to offer and if you want a nascar game that has good turning on the cars buy this game. The xbox 360 game has awesome graphics I will give it that but thats the only reason why people get that game then once you see there reviews they say the game sucks and not to buy it for it's a waste of your money. So thats what I think of the game and what people have to say about this game.

Ps2 version an afterthought?
PostedJune 12, 2008
What is EA thinking? The PS2 version of the game is virtually unchanged from last year. Which was not noted on EA's website. The only changes were a few cosmetic changes to the menus, and soundtrack. The only true option which carried on to the ps2 version is choosing the Pro or Family control style. The car handing appears the same as last years version, and the AI improvements were also not implemented in the ps2 version the drivers still move across the entire track to wreck you, and you have the big one even at tracks like Richmond. The 360 and PS3 versions are supposed to use a rep based point system to progress through the 3 top series, and unlock new sponsors and teams. (Truck, Nationwide, and Cup) The ps2 version still uses the six areas of skill points that was used in last years game. Also the ps2 version even still has the Modified tour in it (that I do not believe was in the other two versions). Also the challenges are not in this version. I know that the ps2 version cant be as detailed as the ps3 version, but they could have done most of the same things just don't use the videos. I strongly recommend that if you don’t have a 360 or ps3, do not buy this game. Especially if you bought 08. Because with the exception of paint schemes, and new drivers it is basically the same. One change is the skill points you earn cannot buy the chase plates (which there are the least of in any nascar game). And no offense to my fellow PS2 owners but, if EA is just going to basically re-release the prior years game they should just stop releasing them for ps2, or at least strongly note that on their site. This is the first time I have been upset with the quality of an EA game.

Unchanged from 08.
PostedJune 11, 2008
If you are looking at buying this game and want an honest opinion, don't buy it. As a diehard nascar fan who owns nascar game, this is by far the worst game I have ever played. Usually I can try to find at least one good thing about every game I play but truthfully could not for this title. EA hyped up this title saying that it includes ESPN but does not, only for the next-gen versions yet neglected to take it off of the ps2 casing. The AI went way down hill compared to last year and the cars have "matchbox car" like physics. As soon as I played it, I put it through a series of tests for various categories: FPS, clipping, physics, plus many more such as number of tracks, drivers, etc., and failed in all of them. Clipping is a major issue that potential buyers should note, wheels frequently disappear off of the cars during a wreck, appear through another part of the car, then reset to the original position. The frame rate decreases while in a pack of cars sometimes slowing it down below 30FPS. Also note that the car physics and handling are completely unrealistic and the car setups are very plain where you are limited to a slide-scroll to setup the cars. Cars easily flip at speeds as slow as 65 mph from what I've tested so far and pile on top of one another like pancakes. The cars are "loose" no matter how you tweak them and slide through every turn leaving skid marks even if you start braking half way down the straightaway and go as slow as you can. The Tachometers are also pegged at 9500 rpm whenever you get on the gas. Many of the tracks are outdated and haven't been used in Nascar for 4 or more year yet are still on the game, such as Nazareth and the Darlington Truck series race. There are also only a handful of real drivers in the game outside of the Cup Series. None of the new features are included into the game that were supposed to be: No pre race or commentary, ESPN, new paint shop feature, challenges or anything else that EA hyped up for this new installment. This series of games has gone down hill since 2005 and has been completely stripped down from what we've seen in the past. It is the same game as 2008 with just a new roster and paint schemes. I have seen much better games in the past and EA is capable of better things than this so I don't know why this is the product I bought. You are better off using your money to buy some older nascar titles that are much more enjoyable and will give you a ton more for the money than this years installment. Sadly, this is the lowest score I have ever given a game in a review and you should take this review to mind when if you are considering this purchase. Thank you.
