Not a good game
M&M Kart Racing is one of the worst games I've ever played. There is no challenge because the CPU is to slow and doesn't make the race intresting. The controls are good however. It has the worst graphics I've ever seen. This game was made in 2006 but they could have done a lot better on the graphics and animation. The interface isn't that good due to the graphics mainly. The track is hard to see sometimes and objects don't come into view untill your a foot or two away from them. The sound isn't that good even with the volume cranked up to max on the DS. The music just doesn't suit the game or track. The track variety is ok...not much to say other than the tracks are short and to easy to beat. Vehicle customiztion is terible because they have this one kart that goes very fast and with that kart you practicly win the race in the first twenty seconds. Vehicle variety is ok...not much to say about it though. All in all do not get this game if you really like a challenge.
Okay so technically I have only played the wii version of this game so I am not certain they are 100% the same. You compete to get coins and unlock new tracks. With the coins you can get better/different cars, etc. A few of the courses are VERY difficult to maneuver; but most of them are very playable. Occasionally first time through you may also get confused about where to drive, but overall it gets easier as you play. The computer is not too hard to beat if you have somewhat moderate gaming skills. Probably better for kids who need to win and not hard core gamers who like a challenge. Also a few of the cars are vastly superior to others. I could win most courses with one of the good moderate ones. With the best car it is hard to lose most courses, unless they are just plain tough to maneuver in. The biggest downside in the game for me was that the multiplayer function stinks. You can race another player (non-computer generated) but the race stops as soon as the winner crosses the finish line, which is a real bummer for the 2nd person, especially if they are new to the game. For me it was fun, but not very difficult. Haven't played it much since I beat it...not the kind of game you will probably play over and over.
