Good game, is underrated, more realistic than others

This game is very underrated. It deserves to be reviewed by the critics again now that it has had updates and had the bugs worked out. I have never had connecting issues, game freezing, lag, or any other problems while playing. The only complaint I have is that it seems a bit hard to get into a specific match/game mode sometimes but, if you join a quick match for any game, it's easy to get right in. I've had this problem on other PS3 games online as well, such as Killzone 2. I think it is just quicker and easier to play online on my Xbox 360 in general than the PS3 so I don't blame the game. As for the gameplay, it is much more enjoyable than the thoughtless run & gun games like Modern Warfare. Even playing the deathmatch mode with respawns on, it seems you can move around more, use a bit of strategy, and last longer than the other games. The deathmatch mode with respawns will still get a bit old because most of the run & gun players want to play this mode. The real gameplay is in the other modes where there isn't respawns. This is where real strategy takes place and people take things more seriously because if you die, you're done untill the match is over. It is a bit of a downer to get killed quick and have to wait but, it's not that bad and makes the game more rewarding when you are successful. This game is more for people who want a realistic military game and not just out to rack up kill stats as fast as you can respawn. As for presentation, the graphics are very good but not up to par with other games like COD MW2 or Uncharted but, still very good. Sound effects are pretty good also. You can customize you're characters and weapons which is cool but, there could be a little more variety which would be nice. The maps are fun to play and not cramped like MW 2 maps. With the download add on "Cold Front" package, it adds even more to the game. The major downfall of this game is the lack of a single player campaign but, that isn't what this game was made for. This game is helping to pave the way for games like MAG and so on. The control scheme is different on this game compared to most shooters but, you get used to it pretty quick and if you're like me, even like it. If you're sick of the run & gun, careless, selfish shooters online, then you should play SOCOM. It's not perfect but, is a much more realistic, satisfying shooter for people looking for a fun gaming expeirience, not just stats. Since you can buy this game used or new on the cheap side now, it makes the download add on more worth it and makes this a very good game.

Much Better Than What People Say

I asked some people about this game, and they told me not to get it. I'm glad I didn't listen to them. I know that in the beginning, this game had a lot of problems, but they seem to have been fixed now. I have never run into any lagging, bugs or anything of that nature. The game is great. First, it's really fun to customize your character and then go into battle. When you first start out, the controls are very hard to learn, but after practicing in respawn games for awhile it gets easier to maneuver(yes, this game requires a lot of skill). Once in battle, it takes teamwork to win, you can't win by yourself (and most of the people have mics, so matches can get very competitive. The graphics are gorgeous, especially the level designs. There are only seven, but they’re very large and incredibly addicting to play on. And one of the best parts is the sound. I don't have surround sound but it still sounds incredibly realistic and amazing. There is also deep clan support and a tournament system. Sure, I wish there was s story mode, but it's not a full game anyway. It's just to hold you over until SOCOM 4 comes out I guess. So if you’re looking for an incredibly fun online game but don't feel like paying for a full game, SOCOM: Confrontation is the game for you.

The game is very hard to get used to. The controls are very confusing if you are used to other 3rd person shooter games. The graphics are very good but there is also another flaw to the game. It has no story mode, it is online only. And it also takes me around 10 minutes from when the game gets loaded to even get in a game cause it takes so long to get into a game. Most people that you play against only play this game as well so they are very good. They hardcore this game and this game only. So it makes it very challenging for someone who is new to the game. In my own opinion Socom for the ps2 is alot more fun and alot easier to play. The game does have really good graphics and sounds quality so i guess that is a plus. But if i were you i would stick to a different game like Killlzone 2 its awesome.

Socom confrontation very underrated.

Ok so this was the first game i got for my ps3 and i was certainly not dissapointed. Now that they fixed the servers the game flows flawlessly. Note this is not a run and gun game you have to be very tactical to survive and get kills. Also this is game with a pretty steep learning curve so expect to be killed alot if you're a newb. But once you get a hang of the game then you will be very satisfied, because this is probably the most team oriented game on consoles. The sound is also amazing especially on 5.1 surround sound, you will hear gunshots in the distance, debris fall after a grenade explodes and just aton of other sounds that compliment the games setting very well. The controls can be a pain when you're just starting out, due to the many actions you're character can perform. Overall if you're of tactical shooters you will love this game.
