Well... to start off, i read many poor reviews for this game... Everyone complains that there is no story mode (which is true) However, it seems to me that people are forgetting the reason this game was made. The game is based on the concept of teamwork. It takes a team of people to complete each task. For those players who want to rush into battle like some sort of Rambo and win a war alone, this game is not for you... This game makes you depend on other people to watch your back as you move through the missions. You can join up with different clans and need to practice different strategy to become an expert player. In this game not everyone can just grab an assault rifle and run out and kill everyone. Different players are responsible for selecting different types of weapons and completing different tasks. An ideal squad would have several snipers, several guys clearing out areas, and several guys who just simply watch hot zones. This game is very realistic in the fact that it highlights the level of teamwork that goes in fighting beside your brothers in combat. I have only been playing for a few months and I am already addicted. I spend countless hours trying to master different weapons and achieve higher rank. I am close to being promoted as an officer in my clan and when this happens I will be in charge of leading my own squad and giving orders to lower ranking players. The controls are not hard to learn and the patches have fixed a lot of the problems that the game has. My only fault in the game would be throwing grenades... I think the system they have could be fixed... but as far as gun battles are concerned. I have never seen a game quite like this. Sometimes is it frustrating to learn to be patient and sometimes if you don't seek cover you will catch a sniper bullet from an opposing team. But in my opinion, that is what makes this game real. Who really can survive being shot 10 to 20 times before going down in battle. I have seen games with health meters that allow a person to kept trucking after being blown to bits. Don't get me wrong, you can take a couple shots in this game, but one headshot and you are laying in the dirt.Practice makes perfect they say.... Don't worry newbies, if you get with the right clan they will teach you the ropes anyways... and that is a part of getting your rank and confrontation rating. As far as shooters go, Socom is different in many ways than the rest... try it out and see if you like it... you will be asked to compete missions rather than just racking up kills... And sometimes giving up your life might be the only way your team gets the victory... interesting concept, huhh???

well in the start of this game when it came out it had a lot of problems but now with the patches its an ok game. the one thing i did not like about this game is that there was no story mode every game needs a story mode think because i like the story mode a lot. socom is a fun game if you did not play any socom games i think you need to play this game. there is not a lot of gun in the game and i want more guns in this game. if you like games with good online get this game then. if you are a fan of socom and a lot of people said bad things about this game get it you will like it. you can custom your guy i think thats good and you can custom your gun too so yea. if you get the headset with the game like i did the mic is very good i love it. i will give this game a 8 out of 10.

If you have never played any Socom games before, then this game will not let you down. I bought it right when it came out, and yes just like everybody else, I was alittle disappointed that there is no single player game. Even though it is online play only it is still a lot of fun. You can think you are the best by being in one game with a bunch of newbies but go into another game and actually have to have a plan of how you are going to win. Your skills will always be tested. A lot of people gave bad reviews saying it is laggy but they have made patches for it and I play every chance I get and don't have any problems. Just like every game that comes out for online play they find problems and have to work them out. Rent it first if you aren't too sure about it but I'm sure anyone that buys this game will end up loving it. I have bought tons of games after Socom but those are the ones I'll play and beat in a week and return for a new game. Socom isn't a game you will want to return. Even though you play the same maps over and over, you always get into it because it's not the same group of people all the time. The controls aren't that hard to get used to either. Play a couple games and if you are having trouble the people in the game with you will usually lend a helping hand if your having problems. GO OUT AND TRY THIS GAME. The only reason I gave a 3 for storyline is because it doesn't have a storyline you follow because it is ONLINE PLAY only.

If you enjoy games that are half made then this is the right game for you! First off there is no single player mode, this is an online game only. The servers are laggy and unresponsive. The controls are horrible and the game has somewhat of a steep learning curve if you've never played it before. Other players on the game are usually very skilled and will blow you out the water if your a newbie. The game itself looks like complete garbage. This is not a pick up and play game! So it will probably take about 5 minutes to get into a server and after that you will probably die within 30 seconds of playing which will in turn make you wait for everyone else to die before you can play again. So you might as well buy a good book with this game as you will have quite a bit waiting on your hands unless you sit in a corner and camp which everyone seems to do.
