Pretty Darn Good
PostedOctober 22, 2008
When I bought Rock Band, I knew this was good. When I saw that Rock Band 2 was coming out, I didn't even think, Rock Band 2 was gonna be good. I have to admit, I've grown a bond between the original Rock Band. The songs were classic and Rock Band 2 wasn't the same without them. I soon discovered that you could export the songs from RB into RB2, which made me happy (unfortunately, the exporting process left out Enter Sandman, Run to The Hills, and Paranoid, which I would have liked to play in RB2. I don't know, maybe they just wanted to be jerks). The song choice was different, but even though I had not heard of them in the past, I played almost all of them and liked many of them (they're some of my new favorites). And plenty of them are pure classics that everybody has heard of, like Eye of The Tiger, Any Way You Want It, etc... There are plenty of songs to download, plus 3 free songs, and 20 free upcoming songs (again, not heard of, oh well...). Since I bought Rock Band back in March, I didn't buy they new instruments for Rock Band 2, I just didn't want to. I can't tell you anything about that. I'm sure they're quiter, I hope. Overall, the game is great. If you like Guitar Hero or the previous Rock Band, you'll love this one. It's a must.

Not self-righteous enough to claim the smartest reviewer ever
PostedOctober 5, 2008
Rock band is designed to bring people together of all different tastes in music. The game is based on the party atmosphere in which many people can join in and play. You do not buy Rock Band for its extreme graphics you buy Rock Band for being the first to design this innovative party game, this interactive karaoke. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't realize that this is a game if you have a life and like to entertain people in your home and have a great way to get those people out of their shell playing along with a couple drinks and enjoying music that everyone knows and can enjoy. And the best laughs i've ever had were the jokes and the poking fun of drunk people at the party trying to sing. Unlike the previous reviewer the so called "smartest and best" reviewer who hates this game, I enjoy very, very much for the simple idea what it stands for, it is for the casual gamer who wants to have another party game for those weekend college get togethers. I'm sorry the other reviewer cant understand that, but ignorance is bliss and he can play Fable 2, Far Cry 2, GOW 2, Fallout, Spore, and Red Faction 2. Don't miss understand those are all incredible games that are on my wish list to but for the average gamer, this game is a 10 for its legitimate fun and social value. And between GH World Tour and RB2 personally I would choose RB2 because they have done it longer but RB2 like I said is for casual while GH World Tour looks to be gearing for the hard core with MIDI imports, creating and sharing your own songs. So my recommendation and your casual buy this game

Great Buy
PostedSeptember 30, 2008
Rock Band 2 was a great buy and i am very happy with it. I own the first Rock Band game and I will say this is an improvement. The 84 song setlist has a great variety of music. There are just a couple songs that I really wasn't impressed with. Other than that, the songs are challenging. The sound is great, and the graphics haven't much improved, maybe just a little bit. The online play is great too because you can go into other people's bands and help them through their world tour, and there is also the band quickplay, score duel, and tug of war that you saw in the first Rock Band. Also there isn't a single player tour mode anymore, now anyone can join the other player's world tour. All your downloads are loaded right on Rock Band 2 with no problem. You can also redeem a code for 20 bonus downloadable songs. Also for 400 MS points, you can import the setlist from Rock Band to Rock Band 2, excluding four songs. This is a great buy for anyone who has the first Rock Band, and with over 500 songs for download by the end of 2008, why isn't this a great purchase?

The World's Best (apparently the smartest because I HATE ROCK BAND 2) Reviewer
Really, Rock Band 2?
PostedSeptember 28, 2008
I can't believe all the good reviews people have been giving this game. How do they get these terrible freak'in songs? Like White Wedding, Alabama Getaway, or anything by Sonic Youth? When did they become popular? Actually, when did they become quality music? This game has a pretty cool main menu, good graphics, and that's about it. In fact, the most fun I had while playing this game was at the end when you get to launch all the fireworks because that meant I didn't have to play crappy music anymore. I liked maybe 5 songs out of all of them, which is supposedly around 80. I cannot believe people actually find this game fun! Don't get me started on hammer-ons, they're so terrible it made my eyes bleed. Just regular notes decide not to work sometimes. I am pretty good at Rock Band, then again I think anyone, even someone who has never played Rock Band 1, or any Guitar Hero can find expert really easy. I cannot even beat Guitar Hero's "One" on hard (because its hard)! But expert on Rock Band is child's play to me. Some other people in the other reviews say this game is "More of the same, but I love it!"... really? The game is boring and repetitive, how can you love that? The only reason people say this game is hard because of drums, which are the only thing I will consider playing now because guitar and bass blow. Someone else said that the bass is now a lot better, but its even easier now. When I played "What'cha Want", I answered " to blow my brains out" because you hit 2 notes (4 is you're playing guitar) as bass every 2 seconds, NOT KIDDING! It is seriously that boring, I'm not even joking at all. If you had fun playing Rock Band 2, then I am very, very sorry you have a terrible taste in video games. I thought this game would be cool cause it has songs like "Down with the Sickness" and "Give it All", and now you can even download other cool songs by Disturbed like "Indestructible", but other songs (the other 75) ruin it. The engine is terrible with when you have the same note a bunch of times, because when you hold down a button and strum, it will go for the note ahead of the one you are actually aiming for. I seriously, no joke am sorry for all those other people who had fun with this game when other great games are coming out next month. I didn't like how Guitar Hero is copying Rock Band's drums and singing, but hopefully they will have a much better follow through. Also, the notes in Rock Band 2 (light bulbs? What do those have to do with the guitar?) Are not as cool as Guitar Hero's notes and Guitar Hero 3's hammer-ons were so much more fun to play with. All in all, DO NOT BUY ROCK BAND 2, YOU WILL REGRET WASTING THE *edit* DOLLARS IN THE LONG RUN! Wait for better games (Fable 2, Gears 2, Fallout 3, Dead Space, Left 4 Dead, and Resident Evil 5, anything that doesn't have 'Rock Band' in the name) to spend your money with!
