Zack (Rock Band Lunatic)
Best Purchase
PostedSeptember 26, 2008
This game is just AMAZING! I think it will be the best experience for drummers though. Sure the guitar and singing are fun, but nothing about that really changed much besides the extremely fun new songs. As for drummers, especially the expertise players, the challenge has stepped up a lot, the new Fill trainer, Beat trainer, and Freestyle Mode are a blast to play and the song variety is sick. If you thought you had a lot of songs in the first Rock Band because you spent tons of money on DLC, Rock Band 2 automatically has all the DLC you had from the first one installed into it, and plus you can export the original in game non-DLC songs from rock band 1 into your Rock Band 2 game. That means even if you purchased absolutely NO downloads, even the free ones, just the 2 games combined with their original songs equals WAY over 100 tracks. I don't know exactly how much songs are in each game BUT i do know rock band 1 has somewhere around 50+ songs while rock band two has about 80+ Songs. That is A LOT of gameplay. And they will have nearly 500 songs for downloads by the holiday so you can have about 630+ songs for your gaming experience by then. I find that Amazing. Okay okay okay i still do have complaints though. I caught my eyes on reviews for the new Rock Band 2 drums and they STILL have major response issues. All the other instruments respond fine, but the drums, which was a big issue for rock band one, will probably still be for this game. If your not on expert or hard, get the new drums, they will most likely last fine unless you smash the living shenanigans out of it in freestyle mode. If your on expert, expect to get angry attempting to FC a song with notes you KNOW you've hit but the drums don't want to respond. Anyway i only named a few Pros and Cons, there are a lot more but i'm just pointing out major peaks and major upsets. Still my favorite purchase yet. This one annihilates the original. Buy it !

Don't fix it. And they didn't! This game delivers the same rock-solid (pun intended) gameplay of the original, with a whole new list of songs and a few additional features. 'Single player tour' is a thing of the past, but you can play the Band World Tour with just one player now, and any character you create can perform on any instrument. Additionally, your other characters can be added to the band as NPCs, so you can jam with the whole band on stage, even when you're playing alone. You can also perform the world tour online, now. They've doubled the faces for character creation and added a new line of clothing (Thrift Shop) as well as a few accessories (masks, piercing, bandannas, instruments, etc) for customizing your rockers. New cities and a few new venues have been added as well. The song list is exceptionally varied, and you get a little bit of everything, which is extremely cool in my book. Who wants music from just one genre or decade? The core gameplay remains unchanged, which is good, because seriously, why change it? If you liked RockBand, you'll like RockBand 2, it's just that simple.

King of Reviews
Only for the Newcomers

Clearly put Rock Band 2 is better than Rock Band 1. However, is it first on your list if you have rock band 1? With all the great games coming out like Lego Batman, Fable II, and Gears of War 2, this game falls short. If you have rock band 1 then there is no point unless you love this game to death to get the 2nd. All it has are new songs (All of which are available rock band 1 via marketplace in the near future) and some slightly improved instruments. The only dramatic change is the Ion Drums which added some cymbals. Otherwise all the guitar has is less squeaky buttons and the mike is more sensitive. Also the games interface is slightly improved and navigating through the endless songs is much easier. If you are a newcomer to the Rock Band Series then get this game because it is worth it. If you have Rock Band 1 then don't bother, as it doesn't illustrate much new.

Worth every penny........

There are a lot of new features in this game. Like how about the ability to play in world tour by yourself. I love this game and have a hard time finding friends that play it as much as I do. Now I can just play by myself whenever I want. Plus instead of having to make a new character for drums, guitar etc. You can play everything with the same person. HUGE improvement. The gameplay is mostly the same which is never bad if you like the first one. If you're a fan of all music generations the music list is great 84 songs for the game price and added features. How could you pass this up. Oh and I forgot to mention the ability to export you RB 1 songs for a small price (minus 3 for license issues) into RB 2. That 50+ more songs. Come on people thats a awesome deal.
