Another RPG Masterpiece

The guys at Atlus have once again outdid themselves with Persona 4. I have played Persona 3 FES since I bought it, and I can say that 4 is just as addicting. I found the Midnight TV bit to be weird, but original, which is what the Shin Megami Tensei series is all about. The main points in the game that should be looked at better are the gameplay elements. The main points from Persona 3, such as Fusion and Social Links, make a refined return in Persona 4, as well as additions such as jobs and a deeper level of customization. Also, custom weapons return from FES, adding to the customization, as well as adding to the usual list of weapons, which is a long one for Persona 4. The soundtrack is fantasic, and the added CD with the game is a nice buyer's touch. Even if you find something you dont like about Persona 4, god forbid, you will at least enjoy the CD. The control scheme is very similar to Persona 3. If you are familiar on how FES is played, you will have no issue figuring out 4. Persona 4 is not quite as bad as FES' Hard Mode, but it still brings a worthy challange to even the true RPG veterans like myself. I will admit that there are parts in the game that will drive you nuts in difficulty, but that is true with most games nowadays. Graphics are Anime-based, like the others in the Persona series, but are much more refined and beautiful. The cutscenes are truly eye candy to watch if you are a anime fan. If you are not one, then why are you even reading this??? Also on the beauty of the graphics, it should be remembered that we are talking about a beautiful game on the Playstation 2. That being said, I can't wait for Atlus to make the jump to the PS3!!! Finally, the length of the game, compared to other RPGs out there, can leave something to wanting. Persona 4 is certainly longer then Nocturne, but is not quite as lengthy as Persona 3. I managed to complete the game in under 60 hours. To many gamers out there, thats a long time to be playing a game, but to Shin Megami Tensei veterans, thats a short supply of gameplay. However, under 60 hours is not including earning 100% of the gameplay value of the game, including completing all Social Links and discovering all the Persona, so you will probably be spending quite a bit of you free time to Persona 4. And did I mention that this game is RPG crack. The first time picking it up, you will be hooked, believe me. To end this review, I can only say this. For all RPG fans out there, including those who have not yet enjoyed the fun of a Shin MEgami Tensei game before, you owe it to yourself to save up the money and buy this game. It is a time you will not soon let go of. The only warning I can give to any of you is that if you intend to complete this game 100%, I extend a warning. You will probably not be able to do so without some sort of strategy guide or walkthrough. Find the the Persona 4 game guide. Have fun gamers, and hope with me for Persona 5 in the near future.

After playing on every difficulty of Shin Megami Tensei Persona 3 I couldn't wait for the next one. Who ever came up with the ideal of Persona is a genius. This game will get addicting and you may even want to play it again. The second time around try normal mode and concentrate on maxing out the social links. Persona 4 could have been a little longer. I recommend concentrating on the social links instead of fishing like I did. The graphics like most Atlus games are great especially concidering that it's on Play Station 2. I really liked the bonus disc containing Persona 4's soundtrack. I would recommend getting the game guide or using gamefaqs walkthrough. It will make the game that much easier and if you are like me and want to unlock all the Persona then you will need them. I hope they make a Persona 5 and make it for Play Station 3.

Best Shin Megami Tenshi Game
PostedDecember 15, 2008
When P3 came out i was in love. i could not stop playing that game. when P3 FES came out i just had to get the game to see the new story. as far as i can see P4 has become something many Persona players could not believe. P4 has become better than P3. This game is a must have with excellent music and a epic storyline. There are funny moments and there are sad moments. you feel like your in the game when you play P4. If your not getting the game for the game play you will be getting it for the soundtrack. Best RPG for 2008 in my opinion. I found myself playing for hours and once i started to play i could not stop. I love the story and this game in my eyes is a ten out of ten. the one thing that i don't think P4 can get a ten on is the controls (just because there the same as the last one) and the Challenge (just because i found it to be easy for me in the normal mode)

This truly is an epic game..

At long last, Persona 4 is here. If you're like me, you've been waiting for this game since the JP version. Anyway, Lets get right to the review. Starting with the simple stuff, the Music for P4 is out-of-this-world. I'd find myself fighting random battles just to listen to the music, and the boss battle music… makes the fights seem so real, so EPIC. Also the music playing during dungeons is also great, but not as good. Next on the list is the graphics of P4. Nothing really "new" but why fix what's not broken? If you've played P3, it looks about the same with some new clear perks. Now, the Story… This time around you're a high schooler living with his uncle for One year in a small town in Japan. Seems boring right? Wrong. Soon after you arrive people start dying. Found in the Fog upside down on telephone poles. With a strange new power it's your job to find out how/why/who is the murder. Now when I say "it's your job to find the murder" you think the story is going to be on a rail right? ( "rail" nothing you can do to change or interact with the story ) Well, this time you have to find out clues, solve puzzles and a lot more to find out who the killer is. That said you can lose the game by not finding out OR picking the wrong person as the killer. Something new! If that wasn't enough… There's tons of twists and turns in the story to keep you going for months. Which gives you tons of replay value. You WONT get everything done on your first play. If you want to get 100% on P4 you're going to have to play a NewGame+. the NG+ Adds a lot of new things to keep the game fresh, New weapons, new areas, new Persona to just name a few. Now to me, this time around all the new cast is 100 times better then the cast of P3. The S.Links are also better and much easier to complete. Also… this game adds new Stats to the mix. Like expression, understanding, and more. Each new stat helps with part time jobs, (New to Persona, you can take part-time jobs to make cash and max stats, Maybe even make some new friends) or just help you say something to that girl you like. In closing, Story 10/10, Replay ability 10/10, Sound 10/10. This game is a must buy. If you like RPGs you'll love this game. I can't even explain the greatness of Persona 4's story. It can, and will, bring you to tears at points, and make you laugh so hard you fall out of your chair the next. Please do yourself a favor and buy this game. You won't regret it.
