Heroes over Europe is the "sequel" to ubisoft's Heroes of the Pacific. Pacific was very good, and Europe is good enough to match it. The game blends arcade and flight-simulator characteristics, and has a dramatic feel to it, like it jumped out of a novel epic. The game follow the story of three different pilot from three different countries that all fight against the evil onslaught of Hitler's Luftwaffe (that's the German air force). Because the game is supposed to portray real locations, airplanes, and events based off of history, the graphics should be at par level or higher, and they are. From the cut scenes to the gameplay to the title screen, it all looks awesome. Unfortunately, that's the best part. The music and sound effects are decent enough, and the voice actors are fun. The weak point of Heroes over Europe is it's ability to addict and leave a lasting impression. The game is all flying fighter planes and lighter strike planes on occasion, (no bombers). The missions are large scale, usually involving hordes of German planes and huge landscapes and altitudes to cover. There are three difficulties: you can dive in and rip them to shreds on rookie difficulty, dogfight with determination in pilot difficulty, or fight with your very soul on ace difficulty. despite all this power, the frantic aerial warfare does get boring after awhile. Nonetheless, if you really like planes, explosions, and a blend of the two, this game is for you.

Heroes over Europe is a story-driven flying game that blends arcade and simulator characteristics. The large-scale battles and landscapes are fun, but the game doesn't offer that much in terms of original gameplay. Nonetheless, if you like planes, explosions, and a blend of the two, this game is for you.
