THIS IS TERRIBLE

Why are so many people saying this is better then The Show? If anything The Show should be re-named The Best. The graphics on this game are good...for the PS2! The uniforms look stuck to the players. What's all that about. Gary Thorne and whats his name keep repeating everything. If you're pitching a no-hitter in like the 7th inning an easy fly ball isn't even caught. When you hit the ball makes this loud, fake BAM! Get The Show unless you have a 360.

MLB 2K9
PostedDecember 28, 2009
First, I just want to say this is a very poor made baseball game. If you compared this to MLB 09 The Show, nothing is as good as The Show. Anyway, the camera angle is nice. When you are pitching it is actually just like what you see on TV. However, when you are batting the camera angle is not the best. For me, sports games have to have the broadcasting experience, so the camera angle has to be good; for 2K9 it just does not feel real. Next, is the challenge is not so challenging, however it is very hard to hit home runs. Third, the controls at FIRST when you just opened the game and you go to play a game stink. For batting, I think at first you have to put the right joystick down, then up; however when you put the batting controls back to classic it is all better. However for the pitching controls are probably the most bizarre controls ever. Say, if you want to throw a fastball you have to flick the joystick down, then up. Next, the graphics: the facial animations are very good; however some players like Manny Ramirez, the facial graphics are horrible. However 2K Sports does not pay much attention to the details. Like sometimes, dugouts son't have those protector things, and it makes the game even worse. If graphics are not good in a game, I don't buy the game then. Next the interface is good, but sometimes the game gets glitches. Sixth, the sound is great when it comes to the crowd, and announcers. But when you hit a home run, it makes this obnoxious, loud crack of the bat. Seventh, the statistics are really good. It shows everything, and more than a baseball card does. Last the team/player variety are not that good. Some players that are in the major leagues are in the minors,so you have to send them up to the majors. If I were you, I would not buy this game.

2K9 or The Show, my thoughts
PostedAugust 3, 2009
Well I have played both MLB 09: The Show, as well as MLB 2K9, between the 2 I like 2K9 the better for a number of reasons:The Pro's: Pitching is a challenge to learn, but once you have it down you're good to go. Also the pitching control seems much more realistic in 2K9 then it does in The Show. You have to manipulate the ball to get it to do different things with the Right Analog stick, just like a pitcher has to hold the ball different. If you hit your power and accuracy the pitch goes where you want it. If you mess up, your pitch will go wide, or even drift right down the middle, just like a real pitcher, if they mess up, the pitch goes somewhere they regret. In The show, you can max your accuracy and the pitch goes wherever it wants. There is no logic behind the pitching and it seems really far from realistic. I know pitchers don't always hit their spots, but they are at least close 75% of the time and in The Show I was never close to where I wanted even when being 'perfect' on the pitch meter.Another Pro of 2K9 is the trading format. When trading players you can make multiplayer deals, trade 3 guys for 2, and generally build your team the way you like if you have the patience, money, and can work out the deal. It falls on the teams to manage their roster so that if the trade exceeds the roster size they will have to make the cuts and release people on their side. This is a great feature, and it can be alot of fun racking your brain to figure out what a team needs, how to get it, and then make the deal to get the player your want. In The show, the trading format sucks, you have to trade the same number of players, 2-2 or 1-1, 3-3 because you are not able to exceed the roster limitations. Teams start with a full roster and will not exceed their roster limitations even if it's a ridiculously crazy deal for the other team, example I tried just to experiment, Albert Puljos, and Manny Ramierez for Tim Lincecum, Computer wouldn't do it cause it exceeded their roster limits which is ridiculous and makes the game very unrealistic in my opinion.Batting is about the same in each game, and I can not see a major advantage of one over the other.Cons: The biggest and most glaring con of 2K9 is the fielding. You can have a player standing right in front of a rolling ball and it rolls by him cause he will not put his glove down. The fielders for the player do not run full tilt in 2K9 and alot of balls are hit that shouldn't. Also routine grounders in the infield result in errors as the first baseman doesn't have his foot on the bag.The Show is much better in this aspect, the fielding is realistic, if you get to the ball they put the glove down and pick it up on the rolling grounders, the first baseman is on the bag on the throws as long as it's accurate. All and all the game depends on your style of play. if you like to just fire up the game and go, then The Show is for you, if you like more behind the scenes building of teams and more challenge then 2K9 is the better game.
