This has got to be the worst $** I've ever spent. I expected a challenge and a little bit of fun from this game but all I received was a ridiculously long "world tour" (single player campaign) with no player variety at all. You start off ranked 150 overall in Amateur and there are still 100 ranks of Professional to get to after that. What's terrible is that every tournament you play you play the same type of AI players and when you win a tournament you only move up 2 ranks. I played for about 10 hours and am currently only ranked 67 on Amateur. Also, you get to play in "sponsor tournaments" against a couple of the top players in the world, (Blake, Murray, etc.) but you beat them just as easily as a player two ranks ahead of youThe other trememndously disappointing aspect of this game is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to make an unforced error or even hit the ball out of bounds. The graphics are mediocre at best. And the tennis store and world tour home/interface are what you would see from the old sega games back in the late 90's.Please save yourself the money. If you want to buy a sports game I suggest Fifa Soccer.

I always enjoyed VT the mini games and graphics sold me on this game alone. VT 09 has upgraded feautures that were not available in the previous VT such as online gameplay, more mini-games, and better products in tennis store. Online Gameplay :lets you play double and single matches you can also upload you created player in matches. The negative is lag time and speed in the gameplay. Your playing people all over the world so don't be upset when you think you scored but mysteriously the other player in a choppy fashion returns a cross court top spin. Mini Games: I definetly would like to know who came up with these mini games they are very creative and will help your moving skills on the court. The negative is that you don't get much in attribute points when you clear the games. And Finally the Tennis Store: If you want your player wearing a fez hat with a tie dye shirt and pirate boots go ahead. The variety of clothing and accesories can be a eye catcher when your playing online. The negative is that items are highly expensive and only the raquets add to your performance. All in all is that i can play this game with my girlfriend and have a good time so guys if you want your girl to get in the video game world with you i highly recommend this game. But if your like the John McEnroe that needs realistic simulation well just go play outside :)

I am a complete fan of the Virtua Tennis series. I can't wait until it comes available for purchase. From the screenshots, I can tell this will be one for the ages. And now that they have online capabilities, which was lacking in Virtua Tennis 3, there will be no doubt in my mind that this will be the best yet to date! I will let you know what I think of it once I get my copy of this anticipated game. Wish it was available today because I would have it no matter what. Until then.

Coming off of TS3, I was hoping that VT2009 would have bought some pro players who were missing from its leading competitor. With plenty of fan favorites, I was excited when I bought the game all the way up until I actually started playing. I picked Novak Djokovic because he is my favorite player, but once I started playing, the game just didnt live up to what I expected it to be. First of all, he isnt even using the right racquet, Djokovic uses a Head Speed Pro, not a Microgel. Next the player movement is completely unrealistic, the way you can change angles and almost get to any shot is utterly disappointing. Then there is the fact that it is almost impossible to make an error or force one. Attacking the net is pretty easy because you are just smashing the "X" button hoping for a smash and since you dont have to worry about passing shots, you can stay up. Another thing that bothers me is that I had to put the difficulty on very hard for a challenge. Then it became whoever made the first bad hit gets destroyed by a monster forehand, so it was either way in who was going to win the match. There really is no skill involved, but if you can figure out how to hit a drop shot, props to you because all I got were slices. Control needed to be worked on and since the top spin and flat groundstrokes are the same button, it all depends on the wacky movements on the player to determine what kind of shot you are going to hit. I regret getting rid of my other game for an updates roster, I would rather have created them myself and played something realistic. But if you are not a tennis player/enthusiast like me, this is a great pick me up arcade style game for some gamers who want to pick it up and never lose a point in a match.
