i got this game as soon as it came out and it is great, i like it cuz i grew up with monster hunter and cuz its just fun. i would get this game if you like monster hunter and\or cool games.

Not wimpy wimpy wimpy, but HEFTY HEFTY HEFTY!

Gameplay: MHF:U has a playstyle that my be awkward for some, but for others, it's the perfect formula. When I started playing this i thought this would be like action rpg where I could go nuts and kill everything, but I was wrong. This game represents TRUE skill where the game is where I break down 80% skill 20% equipment and paying attention is key to success and not death. There are also plenty of playstyles to choose from represented by the weapon classes ranging from Giant swords to long ranged gunlance. Note: some later battles can last up to hours so be prepared for a long an difficult fight!

Controls: Just like the gameplay, the controls will need getting used to. The D Pad controls camera, L centers camera to the direction your character faces, or if held selects item. R is weapon ability, which ranges from blocking with sword, or psyching up with dual blades. The Face buttons change into a normal mode, and weapon mode, where depending on whether you have your weapon out or not, it changes what each button does. This may be confusing to some, but once you play for long periods of time, its a formula that works, and restrictive enough that everything is done whenever rather the player has to time and allow enough time for him to heal, put away weapon, etc.

Graphics: The graphics are good for what a psp can give, but gameplay should be taken into more consideration than graphics(which most people fail to do nowadays). The MHF:U world is vast and diverse where every terrain is unique. The monsters themselves all look amazing, especially the dragons, where the animations are smooth and believable.

Lasting Appeal: This game is huge, and i mean HUGE! I personally played this for tens of hours, but i know people who clock into the hundreds! This is one of the largest MH experiences there are, and the one of the largest playtime:cost ratio there is!

Sound: The sound in this game is great, but i didn't focus on it much because I played with it low, so sorry for that.

Difficulty: Do not, i repeat DO NOT expect a cakewalk, rather a mindnumbing experience that requires all the effort you can muster. This game is difficult, and at some point seemingly impossible, but when you slay something after beating at it for so long, the relief you experience is satisfying.

Final Note:
When you first try this, you will hate it if you don't give it a chance. After this game has soaked in, you will experience what so many have for hours on end.

I mean the games good but i mean you play it once and your done there is no lasting appeal what so ever i wouldnt spend my money on it.im sorry capcom but you make stupid games street fighter sucks, and so does lost planet monster hunter sssuuuccckkss!!!!! :(
