This game is perfect for: casual gamers
I was a bit skeptical when I heard about a GTA themed western game but when I played it oh did it work. The game was amazing, the story and plot development was amazing. Everything was. The ending made me feel a bit sad though which means that the story connected to me on a deeper level. To the people who thought up this one if you ever read this you are amazing.

I havent really gotten into the multiplayer, but i have to say, i absolutely love the singleplayer, it actually beat ME2 on my vote got GoTY, which is saying a lot since its an amazing game. I was totally enthralled in John Marston, and came close to a tear with the ending. Sure, the cow herding was some boring stuff, but i think it helped the game since not everything is super-cool cowboy shootouts (but dont get me wrong, the game is primarily focused on action). This without a doubt is my favorite game ever, and 6+ months after buying it im still finding ways to have fun with my friends and even with single player.

This game is perfect for: casual gamers
First of all I love westerns! The genre invokes fantasies of riding the range either as a desperado or a lawman bringing them to justice! I am not a big fan of the GTA games because of the sense of being outside of the law and playing a gangster. This game gives you a choice and you feel it in the honor and fame points. What I really love is that you can follow the main story line, do side quests or just roam the countryside doing as you please. This truly is an open world game unlike a lot of console games that may boast open world - they simply are not. This game delivers the goods and in spades! It was hard to tell whether I was watching a western movie or playing the game - the visuals are just that great! The only difficulty I have found is finding what you just shot in the heavy brush -- very realistic. Give this game a shot if you are looking for a western type RPG that has a good story and lots of open ended potential!

This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers
Rockstar has been consistent with their releases, and them being good. Red Dead Redemption is by far better than GTA IV, by a long shot! I was a fan of the GTA Series till IV took a few steps backwards from the acclaimed San Andreas.
This game takes place in the wild west, and may not be entertainment for everyone, but this game has a lot to offer. From a huge map, to upgrades for guns, hunting, side missions, a good story line, great DLC, card games (poker and a few others), Duels (my favorite!) the list can go on and on. I have around 30hrs into this game and from what a friend tells me, I am only about half way through.
That is a game! The graphics are just as clean as GTA IV maybe a bit cleaner, gameplay is solid, multiplayer is available for deathmatch, co-op and such. For the price it is totally worth it! It will deliver hours of gameplay and entertainment! I recommend this to anyone who wants a game that they cannot beat in 20 or less hours, a good story line, and likes the free-roam style open map, open gameplay style!

This game is stunning. The story is epic and the multi-player with friends is even better. This is by far one of my top 3 games of all time. This is a must play. I can replay this game over and over and I can play multi-player all day and all night. This could be the best game Rockstar has ever made. I give it 2 thumbs and two big toes up. If you haven't played this yet the shame on you! You must get this if you have been wondering if you should or not.

Let's get this over with right from the start: Red Dead Redemption is one of the best games ever made. Rockstar REALLY hit it out of the park with this one. The animation is fantastic, the story is entertaining, the diologue is witty and hilarious at times, and the characters are memorable. The year is 1911. John Marston, a former gang member sent from the town of Blackwater to Fort Mercer, a gang hideout near the town of Armadillo to kill his former partner, Bill Williamson. After Marston is shot and left for dead, he's rescued by Bonnie MacFarline who nurses him back to health on her ranch. When he's back to normal health, Marston sets off across Armadillo, Mexico, and eventually back to Blackwater in order to kill the three main men he used to ride with: Williamson, Javier Esquela and Dutch Vanderlin. One of the BEST Things about this game is the open world. It's absolutely MASSIVE, one of the largest I've ever played. It encompases both the US and Mexico. In traditional Rockstar fashion, there are some incredible side missions. On top of that, there's a ton of awesome minigames like poker, blackjack, and liars dice, as well as bounty hunter missions, which are insanely fun and easy -ish ways to make money. The unique unlockable outfits and weapons make a neat addition to the game. Overall, this game is absolutely AMAZING! And, one of my favorite Games of all time!!!! ANYONE who hasn't played this game is missing out. Just go buy it!

This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers
To be hones I've never really liked old western cowboy things but after playing this game I understood what old western life was like and loved it. The main character, John Marston, is a really likeable character that you really care for throughout the story and feel bad for at the end. I'm not going to spoil anything but if you like John you'll be sad. The story itself is really good and sticks to the title, redemption. John used to be in a gang but got out and now government agents took his wife Abagail and son Jack and forcing him to hunt down his old gang members and kill them. Throughout the story you meet many characters with different personalities. Such as an Irish drunk named Irish and a psychotic grave robber named Seth. There is many different activities in the game like hunting, gambling, racing, treasure hunting, bounty hunting, gang hideouts, duels, horse , horseshoe getting drunk, and many side quest from strangers. After you do something there's always another thing to do so you never get bored. There's many different weapons in the game. From the typical pistol and shotgun to a lasso and dynamite. The weapon wheel is also a nice feature. It makes it easier to pull out the weapon you want and hold multiple types of the same type of weapon. Multiplayer is also fun because you can create a posse and try to be the best gang.

I absolutly adore this game ... the gameplay is great it keeps you coming back for more and it gets you excited to keep playing, If your not in a mission your doing side quests and/or hunting. I perpher this game over GTA its overall better quality. The graphics are beautiful and you start to feel like your actually in the game. The story line was great and had meaning!!

Red Dead Redemption is an open world western from Rockstar games, the developers from Grand Theft Auto. If you go into this game with high expectations, expect this game to deliver on a majority of the high notes from the GTA series. This game looks absolutely gorgeous, and the story is dark, and entertaining. If you enjoy moody, realistic stories, this is a great option. Characters grab you, and the conclusion of the game will make you choke up, and start the slow clap. Gameplay reminds me of Max Payne. They are both simple in mechanics, but very challenging in difficulty. You can also slow time down, and writing is very similar. The game is a blast, and is best when sending you into a bandit camp, taking down thugs with a mini-gun. At it's worst, it has you herding cattle, and saving horses from fires. The game has some lackluster missions, but most are absolutely fantastic. Also, the map is huge! There are plenty of animals that I love to hunt, tie, and admire. There is always a feeling of discovery and adventure in this outstanding game.

RDR is definitely a game worth buying! Although I didn't try the Undead Nightmare add-on, the single-player plot was really deep, and free roaming in multiplayer is a great way to explore the Wild West with my friends!

I bought this game hoping to get my moneys worth that is an understatement there is so much to do there are plenty of mini games and pple to save you can be a great peson saving people or you can take a dark path and rob banks and kill everyone for there money the story is good i have played through it 3 times and can still play it plus the multiplayer adds lots of fun you can play with your friends and make a posy or play alone in gang matches and other game types or play free roam witch you and your friends can roam the hole map beating gang hideouts and attacking towns you can play friendly matches and not kill anyone or normal and hardcore so you can kill online players as well as the AI
