Best game I have for Wii
PostedJanuary 5, 2010
I got a Nintendo Wii for Christmas along with the Beatles RockBand and Nerf N-Strike Elite, and then a week later my cousin gave my brother, sister, and I Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2010 when we went to his house for New Years. So the next day I popped it into the Wii and tried it. At first it was kind of hard to adjust to the controls but I got it in no time. I worked my way through the first level, piece of cake, until I got to the last hunt of it. I'm walking through some mountains in Colorado until suddenly I hear a loud roar / scream and see a mountain lion rise above a rock and then start attacking me! I was able to throw it off using my gun and try to kill it. Now I'm going to tell you what's so great about it. Camera Angle: there are only 2 choices and they are the hunter's view( gun, scenery, wildlife), and looking through the scope( wildlife, scenery, animal's vital organs). Controls: they are great, you can use the gun that comes with game( Top Shot Style), Wii Zapper Style, or just your Wii remote and nunchuk by themselfs( Nunchuk Style), just be sure to select which control style you are using in the options menu of the game. Graphics: great, you can adjust the brightness level, along with X & Y Sensitivity, whatever that is. The wildlife are very realistic, there are birds that fly and bunnies and foxes that run across the screen in minigames. Also the bigger animals really walk and graze while you're waiting to shoot them. There is a bullet camera so that you see different angles of the bullet while its flying through the air; you can turn it off in the options menu. There are other things on the game screen that you can read about in the Instruction Booklet that comes with the game. Sound: also great, you can adjust the sound and music volume in the options menu. There are no real songs but there is background music. The sound is realistic because the ground crackles when you walk over noisy terrain, like it would on a real hunt. Player Variety: I marked this low because you are playing as Jack Wilde, a skilled hunter whos been chosen by the elite hunting organization known as The Royal Ancient Order of Orion to join there club, and you only play as him, no one else. Challenge: is OK, its easy to sneak up on an animal and shoot it, unless you walk on noisy terrain, miss, or only wound it, because then it gets spooked and runs away, then you only have a few seconds to finish the kill before its gone forever. The reason I marked 7 instead of 1 or 2 is because at the end of some levels is a savage animal who wants to kill and/or eat you. Depending on where you are it could be a bear or other animal but the trick to getting a gold medal while its attacking you is wait till you have a clean shot at its vital organs before you start blowing away. Try not to miss, and when it jumps on you push the button that appears on screen as fast as you can because your life depends on it, literally! One thing I did not like about the game is that being myself, after killing one animal I tried to kill another while it was running away. I took a shot, hit it, and was exited to get two kills in one hunt until I had to restart because I "didn't have a license for that animal". That was a major bummer, but the game is still good anyway. One more thing that I want to mention is a unique feature called Hunter Sense. If you are struggling to track an animal, find a good cover spot, or just get lost twist your Top Shot peripheral to activate it. Hunter Sense is important to use because it helps you locate animals and other the useful bits of info listed here: Waypoints, Noisy Terrain, Animal Signs, Cover Points, and the Animal's Alert State. You can read about Hunter Sense in the Instruction Booklet. I don't know what I would do without Hunter Sense. Well, I think I said enough, I like this game way better than Nerf N-Strike Elite. I'll let you decide on buying this wonderful game if you think you like it while I

Many of the other cabelas games have been the same but when i got this game i was amazed by the amount on new animals and terrain settings. last years game was terrible the grafics sucked and the game was short. the gun on this game is durrable and lightweight it has a good responsive trigger and is just like the arcade gun. You can also use the gun for games like resident evil and COD. I got this game because of the gun because i thought it would be crap but turned out to be one of the better games for the wii. the game is quite challenging and will take a long time to beat so its good for hardcore gamers or just casual layed back gammes.I got the wii for my family and didnt like it but this made me a proud owner of a wii. Hope my reveiw helped, Thanks.
