I started to look at this game early September and was hyped that Bethsadia was working on a FPS,so i just rented it for 24 hours from red box and had to turn it back in after just 2 or 3 hours of playing the game,what does rage have over other post apocalyptic shooters? just pretty visuals and ok sounding monsters the only REAL thing to do in this game is race and upgrade your cars you dont get anything special nothing just shoot at pretty looking mobs with a pretty back round you get a nice selection of guns and diffrent type of ammo,but you dont really upgrade the guns,nor do you upgrade your person besides armor packs that you can buy from a merchant that you can still die in 3 or 4 shots,the side items are poor just grenades bandages and a weird boomerang that can kill some one in 1 hit then a nice head shot to the face by a shotgun or sniper all the side missions need you to kill people or,grab an item from a sea of mobs,the melee side of weps is verry poor you HAVE to run to look for a merchant sad thing is,nothing really changes through out the game,you do the same things "go kill these bandits" spoiler alert even when you kill their little hide out,they are still there,theres really NO exploring the world except doors that are locked but lead to 1 room with ammo,so,theres really nothing that rage offers besides visuals if you like just an FPS that is just linear and so easy a 5 year old can beat it on "nightmare" then pick up rage,if not dont pick this up it was a waste of 2 bucks
I just bought the game yesterday and today I'm returning it. This game may be for some people, but not for me. It reminded me alot of Border Lands, which was an ok game too. I am sooo disappointed because it did not live up to my hype. Usually, a good game will keep me up at night even when I'm tired. This one DID NOT. For example, games like Black Ops or Dead Island are the shizz. And for some reason, it felt like the game was slow, not only the storyline, but the gamplay as well. It's sad, but I'm being honest here. The only thing I liked were the graphics. That's it. Nothing else. I'll give them credit for that. Just make sure you try before you buy.
Overall the game was good. The action sequences were great, I really enjoyed them. However if the title of a game is called Rage, there should be action nonstop from beginning til end. For example God of War shows what rage is perfectly. Rage had too many boring and slow parts. It lacked character development and plot. The main character never spoke, and never portrayed any rage at all. He had no reason to express rage. A good storyline can take a game to the next level. Uncharted and the God of War series wouldn't be half as popular if they didn't have awesome storylines. The ending was terrible, and when all is said and done, the game doesn't portray that anything has changed. The bad guys are still walking around town bullying people. This game was also a bit too easy. Have a few sentry bots accompany you on a few missions and you barely have to shoot at all. This game could have been awesome, but fell way short. Id failed to impress. They better pick up their game. This isn't the age of Doom and Quake anymore, we are on to bigger and better things.
