Great game for all Pokemon Fans
PostedApril 12, 2010
When i heard that HeartGold was coming out i was so exicted. I had loved the original Gold and SIlver back in the day and i wanted to see how they did. HeartGold is a remake of the original Pokemon Gold( For those who don't know). There were many things that i liked aobut this game. 1st off it is very easy to just pick up and play it if you are new to the series. The Games isn't to difficult to pick up on when you start off. The story mode is very long and has 16 badges to play throguh so you should be able to have fun for hours. Also new to this is the Pokelathon( i think). These are sort of track and field/sport type events in which a team of three pokemon join up and play in. Most if not al lthe games utilize the stylus for the DS. Another thing added to HeartGold was the Pokewalker which allows you to transfer one pokemon to it and level it up. Its great to take with you on walks or at school. The only downside that i see to the pokewalker is that you can only gain one level per stroll, but I guess that was implemented so people won't cheat to get level 100s. All in all this was a really impressive game and Im glad that i picked it up. Can't wait for the 5th gen. to come out!

ahh... so worth it

I was worried that this game was not going to not live up to the orignial silver and gold. But i really enjoyed this game... it had everything (well pretty much everything) that silver, gold, and crystal had in it. The new things that were added did not take away from the original game but added to it. If anything i thought it was easier than silver and gold...(but i am not sure if its because im just getting better)... after all it was many many years gold and silver came out. My favorite improvement of this game would have to be the touch menu....its so nice not having to flip around. Its nice to play a long pokemon game that u continue working at and just dont beat it and forget about it. i love pokemon games and cannot wait for another!!

The Best in the series !
PostedApril 2, 2010
Pokemon Heartgold and Soulsilver versions are truly the best in the series for numerous reasons. As a veteran in the series, I found this to be, by far the most challenging and artistic game in this classic series. The challenge varies between which starter you choose, chikorita being hard, totodile being moderate, and cyndaquil being easy. Overall, with 16 badges to collect and numerous sidequests, this game will not dissapoint those who look for a challenge. The controls for this game remain simple with a slight change, the touch screen. If you are used to playing pokemon the usual way by using the D pad to go through menus, prepare for that to change. The game offers touch screen menus and allows you to use your stylus to do numerous things, such as move pokemon around in your pc boxes. The overall sound of the game is excellent. If you played the original gold and silver versions you will recognize a lot of reminiscent tunes in a better orchestrated form. The game even gives you the option to switch to the classic music score of the original gold and silver versions. The graphics department has been lacking since Diamond and Pearl were released. Unless you haven't played pokemon since its earlier days, do not expect much from the graphics. One last con about this game as well as other pokemon games is character customization. You can only stick to the character they give you rather than a character you feel is an appropriate representation of you. I believe you should be able to customize your characters a little more to represent you. The character designs, however are magnificent and wont dissapoint. Overall, this game is the best in the series, since gold and silver were released. Whether you are a retro gamer, pokemaniac, or a newcomer, Pokemon Heartgold and SoulSilver has a lot to offer.

Pokemon, with enough Heart and Soul for everyone to enjoy.
PostedMarch 30, 2010
I'm going to start this review by saying I was into Pokemon all that much until I purchased this game. This game has surpassed every last expectation I had for it. Before I get into the game itself, I'd like to tell you about the Pedometer it came with quaintly called the Pokewalker. The Pokewalker is a pedometer that can interface with your copy of Heart Gold or Soul Silver. You can transfer one Pokemon at a time into it and as you walk around, the Pokemon inside becomes happier and gains experience. Also, as you walk around, you gain watts, which can be used look for Pokemon or look for items, but I'll get into that later. Furthermore, the Pokewalker has several different courses on it, that are unlocked by transferring a certain amount of watts into your game. Moving on with the Pokewalker, it offers a few other things beside being a pedometer. If you choose to not put your watts in your game, there are other things you can do. We'll start with the Pokeradar. When you go into the Pokeradar, which requires 10 watts to enter, you see 4 bushes, and if you wait a while, you'll see exclamation points above the grass, and you can go there and catch Pokemon there. That is so cool. It makes up for how frustrating it can be to spend hours on end looking for one Pokemon. The other thing is Dowsing, which requires 3 watts to enter. Upon entry, you see 6 different spaces, and you have two chances to find an item. I almost forgot to mention this. There are several different Pokemon that have to be happy to evolve and before the Pokewalker, this was a brutal and tedious process. The Pokewalker knocks this out of the park, making friendly evolution very easy, as long as you're willing to walk a lot. I could on for hours about how good the Pokewalker is, but I'm sure you want to hear about the game, so let's get into that, shall we? At first glance, it appears to be just another Pokemon game. When you've had the chance to get into it, you'll notice the changes that were made. One of the changes they made was similar to something in Pokemon Yellow. If you recall, Pikachu followed you, outside of it's Pokeball. Well, now, in Heart Gold and Soul Silver, every single Pokemon is capable of walking behind you now. That's pretty cool. I love that, personally. It adds a sense of companionship to the game, which is nice. As almost everybody who ever played a Pokemon game knows the story isn't deep. You get a starter Pokemon and you're on a journey to obtain all the badges and beat the Elite 4. Now, this isn't bad, I've come to expect it, as a matter of fact. The controls for this game are simple and easy to get the hang of. There is a certain degree of challenge here, in the early parts of the game. As you progress through the game and start to figure out what your lineup would be, it gets easier. Now, for the length of the game. This game is actually pretty long. There are 2 different areas in this game. You start off in Johto. Once you've beaten all 8 gym leaders that Johto has to offer, you can move into Kanto, which is the original land. The land Red, Blue and Yellow took place on. The nostalgia here almost made me tear up just thinking about it. It's a nice feeling to go back there and kind of relive old memories in your head. Being that this is a remake of Pokemon Gold and Silver, all of the elements that were there are brought over here, with a few changes. There are elements that were exclusive to Pokemon Crystal, which was the first remake of Gold and Silver. Now, I've never needed a game to look good for me to enjoy it. Thankfully, this game already looks beautiful. The sounds that you hear when you walk around in the wilderness are so accurate. I love that if you walk up to a body of water, and just stand there, you'll hear the water moving. It adds a sense of realism to the game, which works really, really well. When you walk on hard surfaces, you can hear your character's shoes make that noise, when you walk in the grass, you can hear
