This is a fun and gorey game.

This is the first G.O.W I got for my PSP. It is pretty fun but the game is hardly a challenge. You can choose a difficulty but the campaigns are both the same. However, at the end of the game, you unlock other places to play, places you can spend your orbs, and earn more orbs killing enimies you have killed throughout the campaign mode. I would reccomend this game to people who aren't ones who get sick with lots of blood every attack and ones who like fun and violent games.

God of War: Ghost of Sparta Impressions
PostedFebruary 14, 2011
The God of War games have always been a staple on Sony consoles. Starting with the PS2's initial God of War and the followup, God of War 2, Kratos has found a lot of success with the hordes of fans his series has garnered. With the move to the next gen consoles, the PS3 release of God of War 3 may have ended his journey but there's still a lot of story left to tell. With the success of the first PSP game "Chains of Olympus" it seemed foolish for Sony not to tread into the PSP waters again with another release. Enter Ghost of Sparta. Does this PSP game carry over the combat and story the predecessors are known for or does it fall flat as a portable release?
I consider myself a fan of the God of War series. I played the first and loved it, but never finished the second. I'm still playing through the third and plan on finishing it within a week or two. What I'm trying to convey is that I know about the Ghost of Sparta and his plight to stick it to the gods of Olympus. If you are new to the series or haven't really delved too deep into your Greek mythology, you may be a little lost. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy the game, you just might be a little behind on why this "God of War" guy is so angry and his skin is white (hint: it's his family...literally).
The game takes place somewhere between God of War 1 and 2. After defeating the god of war Ares, Kratos takes over as the new god of war in Olympus. While he is now a god and no longer a mortal, he still has mortal dreams and memories. One such dream in particular has been tormenting him and he takes off on a journey to find out what it's about. The journey will take you through the normal gambit of offerings of locations and bosses and if you've played any of the previous games you'll be instantly familiar with it. The puzzles are a little lighter this time around but the combat is just as frantic as ever.
Speaking of the combat, the developers did one heck of a job making the combat feel like the others in the series. You'll have your weapons and special moves just like in the other games and it all feels just as smooth as before. The only complaint I can think of would be the PSP itself. At times, it gets a little awkward holding the PSP and performing the moves. You get used to it, so stick with it, but it can be a little disorienting at first.
The graphics in Ghost of Sparta are truly amazing for a PSP game. You'd be hard pressed to find another game with graphics this nice of the PSP. The devs seriously milked the PSP for every ounce of processing power they could to get the graphics as nice as they did. Just like in the other installments, you'll awe at the architecture and ahh at the gore.
The music is another strong suit of the game, just like the others. While you are battling the hordes of enemies, you'll constantly hear the notorious God of War battle music playing in the background. At times while exploring, the eerily haunting music of the more solemn bits will tone it down a notch and bring you into the story. For me to notice the sound of a game is a big deal since I normally just blend it into the background.
Ghost of Sparta is a solid PSP game that action fans will like. Whether you love the game depends on how ingrained into the God of War story you are. If you are looking for a solid action game this holiday, God of War: Ghost of Sparta has you covered.
