A Very Solid Game
PostedSeptember 15, 2014
I started on this series at phantasy star portable around 2010, and after playing that game to near death(3 save files, over 1500 hours total), I wanted more after getting all that I could. lo and behold, Phantasy star portable 2 (PSP2)comes out months after I learn about it.
To those familiar with the franchise, PSP2 is the epitome of the phantasy star series in America, japan hasn't given us any of the newer ones in the series yet. but as far as PSP2 goes, it's still among the greatest games you can get for your psp/vita. The story is your pretty basic evil king revives scenario, but the story isn't what you'll be playing for, the gameplay, and the style of the world are fantastic, the controls are simple, but effective, and you can easily put in over 500 hours before you even realize it. the music suits the atmosphere, but there's not too many memorable tracks besides some of the bosses and the story ending theme.
Overall, while I might not have painted the best picture with my words, the game speaks for itself, go pick it up and give it a shot. although I should warn you, the game is pretty hard to find nowadays, so if you get a copy, and you like this game, do not lose it.

Amazing Game
PostedJune 17, 2012
This game is one of the best out there and plus it was made by the sonic team and it's not even about sonic. Game play was amazing, music went well with all missions. Graphics were good, the weapon's to me were badass but your teamate's AI was okay but not great besides that the game is still really, really good. The story line was exciting and fun. The boss battles were epic not like the ones in games like Kingdom Hearts were as you know when there going to die but in PSU2 it was unexpected which was the fun of it. The free missions you acquire throughout the game as you lvl. up the missions get harder instead of staying the same you can choose which lvl mission its C is the lowest were as lvl S is the highest. The cool thing is unlike every other game when you beat it you can still continue and lvl up your character the story doesn't end you can still keep your weapons your money photon arts (skills you can buy or obtain on speacial missions) and everything else!! if you are a hardcore gamer and likes RPG's i recommend this game for you

A massive portable game, and a good one too.
PostedJanuary 15, 2012
In the day and age of shooters a good action rpg can be difficult to find, but luckily Sega decided to give those of us who appreciate a well thought out rpg something to cheer about. If you want a quick summary about what Phantasy Star Portable 2(PSP2) is really like than think star wars mixed with monster hunter and kingdom hearts. Yet at the same time this game is nothing like any of those. The gameplay is the only thing that isn't as smooth or fast pace as those games. It feels slightly rigid and there is a whole lot of locking on and mashing square. Also your character doesn't have the agility and quick moves of a keyblade master or jedi, instead they are slightly slower moving. Yet, despite my complaints the gameplay is more than just hack 'n slash, there are strategies to defeat some of the more difficult foes and those add some depth to the gameplay. That is where most of the complaints stop though, because from a graphical standpoint this game looks very good, a game that clearly had high production value, the sound is good and even though there is no voice acting the clever writing gets the character's personalities across. Yet, the real reason that this game is so good is the fact of how massive it is. A good fifty hours can be sunk into this game and you may still be left with missions to complete, weapons to unlock, and quests to perform for clients, and this length is the true strength of this game. Overall PSP2 returns us to the day when shooters didn't dominate the gaming landscape, and for that we thank it.

this and dissidia:duodecim are probably the two best games on PsP. it had a great plot, it had the quirky acting that made you love PSU and PSP1. it had a Hub world(minor detail, but still) it had more weapons, more missions, another class, cooler outfits, everything was better. the only real flaw with this is that the music in this is severely behind what you may expect. some of the songs sound like the same quality as a pokemon game for DS! but if you have the game on mute, plug in your iPod, and find a few friends, then your ready for a grand old time. Oh yeah, speaking of multiplayer, ONLINE FREAKING MULTIPLAYER.
