After totally milking the Guitar Hero series, most fans stopped liking Guitar Hero. Activision promised not to make so many games, (7 GHs in 2009?) and so far, so good. Only GH6 and DJH2 came out this year. Good. The game starts out with the Demigod of Rock battling The Beast, a huge robot made of amps and such, and he is losing. He is turned to stone, and his guitar is lost somewhere. That's where you come in. You have to take the role of 8 characters, turn them into Warriors and have them fight the beast. Yu start off with Johnny Napalm, who is my favorite of the 8, and play a few songs. Once you beat those, Johnny becomes a Warrior and is now a Nightcrawler-esque monster. Each warrior is granted a power which affects the game play of songs. For example, when Johnny is a Warrior a little Mohawk above the multiplier fills up for every second you're 3 or 4x multiplied. If it fills up a star is added to your total. You can do this five times, getting your star rating a 8, minimum. This only works for the encore, but then if you finish the encore, you can go back, play any song and you can have the power for those songs. After that, you do that for three others (Judy Nails, Echo Tesla and Austin Tejas). You get their powers and turn them into a Warrior. After that, you combine all four powers in one song, (actually "seven") 2112 by Rush! You play each section of the song like it's its own song. It gets kind of crazy, with the powers going off and all around you. Then, after beating that, you do that again, only instead of 2112, you battle "The Beast" with all 8 powers. After beating him, you unlock the Demigod of Rock's songs, (which are hard) and find out that you only did about 1/4 of the game. Now, you have to go back, use all 8 powers for all the songs, getting a maximum of 40 stars per song. This is the first bad part about this game I found. You have to repeat each and every song again and get it basically perfect. Yeah, try doing that with This Day We Fight! By Megadeth. Whatever. Now the only other bad part about this game is the soundtrack. Some will love it, some will hate it. Some are OK with it. I'm in the OK zone, because most of it is really metal. I don't like metal. It doesn't taste good either. But, that is a minor setback for me. I also got this when the demon wings were in stock, but those almost always fall off, so i usually use the red ones that came with the game. All in all, the game is great, but you don't need to buy the bundle if you have a guitar already. It's not a huge improvement over the other. I actually prefer Rock Band's because of the small frets; I like to use those during solos. Well enough out of me! I give this a 9/10.

I bought this mostly for the guitar controller, so I could play rock band 3 with a functioning controller, but when I started playing it, I felt like I was playing Guitar hero 3 again, it's a very fun arcade game, I really liked the quest mode, the story is super stupid, but really fun, the soundtrack is probably the best GH soundtrack since 3, even if you don't like most of the songs, they're very fun to play, I was surprised by how fun "Dance dance" by Fallout boy was to play, considering how much I hate Fallout boy, and "Motivation" by sum 41, is also super fun, and of course the controller, the controller is probably the best guitar controller out there, it's very responsive, and if you're as vain as I am, the rad design is a plus. It's just a good time, it won't win any awards, but if you're looking for a good guitar game, then this is probably what you want, if you're looking for a fun party game, get Rock band 3,
