Great controller

If you believe that you are going to be getting a real instrument by purchasing this Fender Mustang, you didn't take the time to actually read the product info. Although it is not a real, fully stinged guitar, it still performs like the real deal and can make real music if it is attached to a Midi adapter and your PC has the proper software. This guitar is a great step between a fake five button guitar and a real six string guitar, and playing it with Rock Band 3 can teach you the basic fundamentals of playing a real guitar for when or if you ever want to learn to actually play one. Oh, and you also don't have to worry about getting bloody/callused fingertips until you are sure you are ready to play a real guitar.

When i saw this guitar i was surprised that there could be such a thing. first off it's not a real guitar. but the gameplay with it is awesome with just a little little bit of lag. Overall anyone can pick this up and have a great time with it. Beginners, intermediates, or experts.

where's the real instrument?!
PostedJanuary 29, 2011
the guitar is marketed as a real guitar with strings. no. the guitar has strings that u strum but buttons for strings. the strings their using are not even real their plastic. the guitar is plastic. the buttons are so small that people with non child sixe fingers will find it hard to play because they even get smaller as they go down. for the exspensive price that you are paying i would like to have somthing alot better then this.

This is a real Instrument
onFebruary 26, 2011
By definition, this is a midi input device, meaning its a real instrument, it falls under a midi keyboard qualification....BTW there is a six string guitar for RB3, it cost about 249.99 on certain website, its made with fender(the company) and is actually alot harder to play, plain and simple you my *cough{* good *cough* sir are incorrect about this being an instrument, because it is...

Isn't it time to move on to real instruments
PostedDecember 30, 2010
FIrst off I'm a huge fan of the Rock Band and Guitar Hero series, infact Guitar Hero II is one of my favorite games of all time. The games were great becuase you can stand there and pull of the most ridiculous solos with five buttons, obviously this is not like a real guitar at all which made the game totally unrealistic and amazing. But now there pushing realism in the game trying to simulate a real guitar, which they do a good job doing don't get me wrong. But why buy a fake guitar that plays just like a real guitar? The appeal just isn't there for me. Dont' get me wrong I'm not saying that people who play rock band are wasting their time and should gte real instruments, becuase it's a great game. What I am saying is that if your playing with this new controller trying to simulate the actual experience you should probably should get a cheap fake strat model for $100.

A whole new way to play Rock Band, and it works!
PostedDecember 10, 2010
First off, I'm no expert guitarist. I can no way pull off solos or crazy stuff like that. So this review is coming from someone who is pretty much starting at beginner.
Ok, so let me start with saying that this guitar is amazing. It's everything I was expecting and then some. The guitar comes in three parts - the head, the neck, and the body (which is all a piece of cake to put together.) It also comes with two real picks and a strap. Basically everything to get you started. The overall build of the controller feels very sturdy and durable. The only part you might wanna be gentle with are the strings. I have to say, Mad Catz really nailed with this one!
Even though I haven't yet bought Rock Band 3, I have played the guitar with the Rock Band 3 Demo that can be downloaded off of PSN. So anyway, if you are like me I'd suggest starting on Easy mode, and from what I heard there's a in-depth tutorial on how to play in the actual game, so you might wanna do that before you even start playing the actual game because it's very intimidating at first. For me personally, I get the general idea of playing the notes as I see them, so I'm able to play on Easy for the most part.
I can't say how much I am enjoying this product. Yeah, the price is a bit steep, but you are buying something that not only changes the way you play Rock Band, it teaches you the fundamentals on how to master actual guitar (something I'm real eager to do!) So if you are looking for a challenge, do yourself a favor and get this now.
