Best Yu Gi Oh Game
PostedAugust 11, 2011
This game is the best. I played the yu gi oh championship 2011 for ds and i hated it because it took forever for the other player to think up moves and the interface was awful. I was hoping this yu gi oh game would make up for that and to my suprose it exceeded my expectations. First of all i went in to gamestop and asked for a used version and they gave me a new version at a used price! so i got the promo cards and everything which was awesome. The graphics are not the best but they still do a good job showing all the cards and characters. i wish there was some way to zoom into the pictures of the cards so that i could appreciate the art a bit more but that's ok. The music is ok not annoying but not really amazing in any way. the gameplay is where it shines. the card interface is really well thought out and although there are a zillion cards it never feels too cluttered. it is easy to add and take out cards from trunk to deck to extra deck etc. there are also handy search functions to make looking for certain cards way easier like typing in keywords or searching for effects. Playing the computer is really fun after you get past the start and obtain some good cards. at the start of the game the CPU is really really really intimidating. some random girl CPU summoned a 5 headed dragon in one turn and all i had were lousy beast cards. once you finally start getting good cards it gets way more fun. in battle you can shoose to turn off/on a lot of different options to make the game feel more comfotable to the player. the best part of dueling is that the CPU is pretty smart but it doesn't take them forever to decide what to do so the duels are pretty fast paced. in the ds game the cpu would take forever to think up moves which was a total game breaker for me. there's like hundreds of duelists to play against and you can do story mode (it's not really a story you just get to walk around and talk to people) or free battle. there's also a sim game element to the story mode where you can make friends according to how you talk to them and that's how the story gets moving. i really like this game and i am totally addicted to it

Still no voiceovers!?
PostedJuly 2, 2011
The story mode is mostly the same; fill hearts on the screen for each character till you get to the end.
The gameplay is just as good as the others but the ai could be improved.
The graphics are a step up from the last ones. I like how they made the areas more linear, similar to a sidescroller.
A huge issue with these games is that the NA version removes the voices. It'd be nice if i could get some decent voices in the next 10 or so installments. I feel that since we're in an age where we have AR technology and 3d images w/ no glasses they could at least leave the original voices intact if they don't want to dub. I mean, they already translated the lines, right?
This game will last you a long time, especially if you have friends with the same game. if TF2 is any indication I'm going to pass 100 hours with only 50-73% completion.
Overall, as a card game it's a very good rendition of yugioh TCG. I personally love it except for the MIA voices.

AMAZING !!!!

i played most of the Yu-Gi-Oh! games, but this one is totally different. if there is one thing i liked about this game is it's story mood. most of the Yu-Gi-Oh! games are kind of boring " beat the guy win a card and go to the next one" but Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's has more than that. Basically you can build your friendship with other characters and make them your friends to duel with them against the enemies. Depending on your enemy you get to choose your partner, of course you must have different card packages already saved so you can use them with different partners. Also depending on how many friends you have, they'll ask your help for different missions..... I ALREADY FINISHED THE GAME TWICE, BUT I STILL DIDN'T PLAY ALL THE MISSIONS THAT THIS GAME HAS.....
